Eastern European adoptions are still moving along. The Ukraine was very slow for a number of years but I hear it is picking up again. Russia is also starting to move again after some govermental reorg.
It is difficult to get infants but not impossible. I have heard of familys recently coming home with 9mo babies from Russia. The norm is over 12 mos. Take a look at FRUA it as some good information.

This is my fear exactly. I am afraid that I will not pass the physical or they will think I was too great a risk to adopt because of my heart issues.

WOW, this made me so sad, I so hope to adopt one day, these feelings are even stronger now that I have a son. I recently thanked my mom for adopting my brother. He is my best friend, and I can;t imagine where he would be today without us, or us without him. My mom fosterered him but let the buck stop with her because he had been in 20 foster homes in 24 months (really tough kid). SHe cried, because she often wondered if she did the right thing because he required so much attention. I told her any sacrafice we as children had to make was small in comparison to a child knowing what love and family was all about. There was a LOT of difficult years, but now it is so so sooo wonderful to have my brother, i want to give that to another child someday.
Thank You to all that adopt, you really are changing the world for that child
