When to have baby shower
I recently found out that my sister is pregnant and my mom and I will be the ones giving her a shower and was just wondering what others would do in this scenario.
She's due 2/13. When I had my shower I was due 1/20 and had my shower 11/4. We did it then because between Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years I didn't want people to feel burdened with money and giving gifts so close to the holidays, I also knew people might be out of town for the holidays as well. Normally I would think to do it at the beginning of January but is that cutting it too close to her due date? Her boyfriend's mom and grandma live out of state, but they should be coming here for Christmas, should I just do it when they're here. I kind of feel bad asking them to come back a few weeks later when they were just here. My sister says she wants to know nothing lol although I am sure I will have to ask her boyfriend's opinion at some point, although I am sure he will be oblivious about the whole thing like most men are LOL.
We are also probably going to have it at a restaurant and I feel like given the holidays and work holiday parties places might book up faster. When would you think I would have to choose and book a location by?
And if anyone has any suggestions for a nice place in Suffolk, I'd say anywhere east of bayshore for 30-35 people I would really appreciate it!!
TIA!!

Re: When to have baby shower
Where are they coming from?
I would do it at the beginning or mid December. My due date was 2/18 and my shower was 12/4 mainly due to other family obligations. December is a busy month, but I feel like people are more in the spirit if giving at that time. Also, it will give your sister a lot of time to get all set up for the baby.

When to have baby shower
I was due in January and my shower was 11/9ish. How about the beginning of December? Like the first weekend? Most Christmas related stuff hasn't started yet at that point and thanksgiving is over.
I personally think January is cutting it too close

When to have baby shower
One of my best friends was due 2/13 last year and her shower was the second weekend in January. It was fine. Most people I know have them about a month before their due date.

I'd probably do the first weekend in December. I feel like January is cutting it close, plus you get 1 month out from your due date and you're just done. Or at least I was.

Re: When to have baby shower
I agree about having it in early December. I was due on Christmas with my first and had my shower in late October. I was OOS and came in for the shower since most of my friends and family were in NY. I had just started swelling, which got progressively worse and more uncomfortable throughout the fall. Then I was put on bed rest right before Thanksgiving. I was glad we ended up having the shower on the early side.

When to have baby shower
End of November early December. January could be a tough month for people financially.
I had an event at Old Fields Restaurant in Port Jeff for about 30-35 people and it was great. The staff was amazing and everyone loved the food. You get the entire place to yourself (events go from 12-3:30ish cause they have to set up for dinner). I highly recommend them.

When to have baby shower
I was due Jan 19th and my shower was end of Oct and missed it due to a hospital stay. You never know what will happen so pick a date that works for family and the rest will just happen

I agree with this. Just pick a date that works. I was due end of Nov, shower was planned for end of Sept. My son was actually born mid Sept so he was in the NICU when I had my shower.
