when to plant flowers?
I'd like to plant impatients this year in the front of our house. When would be a good time to plant? Do I need to wait until May or later?

the last frost is usually by the third week in April, but I think people usually wait until Mother's Day just in case there is one last late freeze.
not sure how impatients do in a freeze - worth checking out. There are things you can do to protect them though if you plant early and hear a freeze is coming - like covering with plastic.

I plant mine during Mother's Day weekend. Usually better weather, and the stores have a variety of annuals to choose from!

Wait until the middle of May for Impatiens...you can plant pansies right now though. They are tolerant to the cold.

It's way too early for impatiens- especially with this weather we have been having.
I never plant them until at least mid may....

My mom always waited till Mother's Day, but in recent years, the weather has been warmer. You are probably okay doing this in late April or early May, but wait till after Mother's Day if you want to play it safe.
