when will the fatigue end and how severe is it normally?
(almost 7 weeks pregnant)
I can work from 1-3 hours before I need a power nap, but if I do not stop to rest, all I can do is sit at my desk like a zombie. I have days in which I stay late at work resting because the drive home scares me. DH and I went out to run errands yesterday. I became exhausted at the very first place. I rested in the car while he ran some of the other errands. I rejuvenated a little bit. Then, I was up late last night. I could not fall asleep but I was too tired to even concentrate on TV or reading. I slept late, so I thought that would have made up for going to bed late, but I am exhausted today.
I'm quite nauseous also. The nausea seems to be so violent and sometimes sudden.
I'm a wreck thinking of how I will be at some meetings and social events that I have to attend this week and next.

Being exhausted has been my biggest symptom. I am 12 weeks now and it is getting a little bit better. I still can't go out much though. Hang in there.

Re: when will the fatigue end and how severe is it normally?
In my first trimester, I was exhausted all the time. It went away for the most part by 12 or 13 wks. My 2nd trimester has been wonderful! Now, as I'm about to go into my 3rd trimester, I'm finding I'm getting tired all over again.

Re: when will the fatigue end and how severe is it normally?
I was tired from week 5-9 and EXHAUSTED from week 10-11, and this week is much better than last week, so I'd say its getting better. I really only had 2 full weeks of complete and utter exhaustion, which isn't too bad. I am hoping it is over!!

I was exhausted my entire first trimester (I'm usually a midnight person & I'd be crashed by 8pm) & just dragging most of the day. I had no energy to do anything. It lasted until about my 17 week or so.

Re: when will the fatigue end and how severe is it normally?
I have one book that called it "bionic fatigue" and I thought that was the best descriptor! It is impossible to explain to anyone who has NOT been pregnant how bad it is ... all I wanted to do was SLEEP! For me, it lasted till about week 14. It will pass!!

The exhaustion lasted until about 14 weeks or so - tapered off after about 12... then went away until about 34 weeks!

I think everyone is different but I didn't start to feel better until my 17th week. Just try to hang in there, it will all be worth it in the end.

I will be so far behind on everything by the time I feel like I can do very much.

Re: when will the fatigue end and how severe is it normally?
The fatigue was the worst for me in the first (and now again in the third) tri. I would fall asleep at my desk. It lasted until about 10 - 12 wekks & then got better gradually. At week 14 I felt totally normal & actually had a "new" energy until about 26 weeks.
The nausea was so sporadic for me that I cannot even really remember, but I know when it did hit I wanted to crawl under my desk.
ETA: I tried to take power naps whenever I could, on the train, in the car if DH was driving, as soon as I got home I'd nap & then get up & make dinner, then again right after dinner.

Re: when will the fatigue end and how severe is it normally?
took a turn for the worse with my fatigue this weekend. I've been anemic before, and I think I am again, based on some little things my Dr. has said are indicators.

Has your Dr run any blood tests to check for anemia & B12 deficiency? Can you request this at your next visit (or before)?

Re: when will the fatigue end and how severe is it normally?
I found the exhaustion was worse in the 1st trimester - even 3rd trimester, I find it way easier than the 1st - maybe by now I'm used to being tired? Not sure - but I dont need as many naps as I did in the beginning...
after a while, you find you either get used to the exhaustion, or you just start to pick up steam....

Um, I understand "normal fatigue," as I have a high stress job. I'm now talking about fatigue where I can't drive and can barely get myself dressed, not just, "oh this sucks because I really don't want to take my kid to soccer practice today."

Mine never got better. I've just learned to deal with it. So, for ME, I think it may get better sometime in the next couple of years.
Everyone's experience is different, most people get a burst of energy in their second trimester, but I guess my body never adjusted to being pregnant and that never happened for me.

Thanks for asking. I am very nauseous but maybe a little less tired. I didn't sleep well last night, so I may lose steam quickly. I had a terrible dream. I hate that!
