When you and DH are purchasing something big...
Like a car, house, etc....who does most of the talking to the salespeople, realtor, contractor?
I find that I am the one who takes over and does the talking and asks the questions while DH takes it all in.

We BOTH s uck at that stuff, and luckily we haven't had to deal with any of that yet, but I am dreading the time that we do. We are two of the most nonassertive people out there.

My DH takes care of all of that. We discuss it together, but I prefer him to handle those things. He is much better than I am!

When we bought our first car together, DH did most of the talking but when we rented our apartment, I was the talker because I did the research on it.
I'm sure once we are in the process of buying a house we will BOTH be talking and negotiating together.

My husband could sell snow to an Eskimo, seriously. He is awesome at bargaining, and talking people down. Cars, the house, appliances, anything.

Dh does the talking because he knows how to get great deals.we do discuss and talk about what we want before buying something But he does all of negotiating.

same here. He works in sales and is good at it, so he usually does the negotiating.

Im in sales so its me, one time I let my Dh do it for his car and he got ripped off  That was the last time he did the negotiations...

He does all the talking to dealers and salespeople, but I prepare him with my opinions beforehand. He is much more articulate with the spoken word than I am and I am better with the written word when it comes to persuasion.

DH and I usually have a dicussion about how we feel about the product before hand...but I am more assertive that my DH is...so he usually starts out then i will negotiate.

it depends...when it comes to cars thats all DH.
the rest of the stuff is usually me. i take the initiative with most things cause i'm just naturally more talkative. but DH will interject when he has a question or comment.

I was going to say the same thing- I took him with me to buy 1 my first car- he did nothing
but I negotiate for a living- so I enjoy it
he sells- so he sees thru all the tricks- so we are a good team

it depends on what the big purchase is
i def talk to our realtor more
but if it were a car salesman...DH would
a contractor he would...
