Re: When you are expecting someone to come over your house at a certain time..?

I usually wait for them to ring or knock. If it is someone who has never been to our apartment before, sometimes I meet them in the lobby or i open the door after they buzzed so they know which apartment is ours. When you come out of the elevator there is no sign saying which apartments are in which direction. So people never know which way to go.

It really depends. If I am still busy settleing the apartment then I wait from them to ring the bell. If I am ready for their arrival then I wait on the couch with the door open.

If they are not there on time, I don't answer the door. I just ignore the door bell and knocking.

I keep peeking until I see them, then I greet them at the door.

leave door open or unlocked and when they approach, the usually come in themselves.

i prefer it that way.

sometimes greeting them at the door seems so formal and artificial to me.

I keep checking out the window waiting for their arrival. Once they pull in front of the house I frantically try to get a hold of the dog before they reach the front door.

I wait for the bell to ring. I'd make myself crazy if I stood waiting for them, especially if they're late!

It depends on who it is. Like if someone from my family or my BIL is coming over I usually leave the door open for them to come in.

If it's the ILs I peek out the window and pretend I'm not waiting around. Chat Icon

If it's someone like a contractor I let them ring the bell and then get up.

If I happen to see them pull up, I will go outside and greet them. If not, I just wait for them to knock.

Our dog alerts us that a guest has arrived, so we open the front door and hold the door for them and help them as most times the guests are bring a dish to share, etc. Dh takes their coats to hang, etc.

I wait for them to ring the bell. I live on the 2nd floor of a 2 family house... so it would be weird for me to wait outside by the door. Plus when people say they will be there at 3, they hardly are ever there at 3 on the dot... so who knows how long I'd be standing there waiting for.

Also, I have a lot of friends who are usually late! LIKE SUPER LATE!!! HOURS LATE (one in particular! Chat Icon ). Now I lie to her about times. Chat Icon works like a charm usually.
On occation some are early too.

I do whatever I normally do & when they ring the doorbell I answer it. I do look at the window on occasion to see if they're there yet & if I see them, I'd open the door.

Re: When you are expecting someone to come over your house at a certain time..?

My friends come over pretty much every week. They stopped knocking or ringing the belly a looooong time ago. I know they've arrived when the door opens & people appear in my living room.

If I'm expecting someone, it's probably someone I know, so I have DS open the door... it's easier for me that way.... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: When you are expecting someone to come over your house at a certain time..?

People when they drive into our complex need to go through the security center and then we get a phone call asking "are you expecting so and so" I guess it would be pretty funny to one day say "No" but so far we just let them through.
