When you bought big girl/boy furniture, did you also get a desk?

I had one growing up. I didn't really use it that much for school work and when I got older I used it to get ready and put my makeup on. Trying to figure out if I should get one or not.

we just got DD a table a with 2 chairs, so she can draw, use play dough, arts and crafts..... but it's not one of those very small toddler tables, it's big enough for toddlers and older kids .

i plan on it. whether DD chooses to do work there one day or not I want her to know she has a place for all her things and that schoolwork is something with great emphasis and value to us.

No, we did not as of yet. WE figured they won't really be using a desk for a good couple of years.

We ended up buying furniture that down the road we can get the desk to match. We bought Young America furniture which usually never gets discontinued..

No we skipped it but the thought did cross my mind.

We did. DD does use it now when she sits and draws sometimes. I keep paper and marker in the drawers and I did figure when she's older I will hang a nice mirror and it can double as a vanity.

Ive found that they dont really use the desk....

While every child is different, I cant help but feel it is a waster...

HOWEVER....

If you plan on having them have a desktop computer in their room it may come in handy. It's the only time my eldest daughter has ever used her desk...once she got her laptop the desk sits cluttered with papers and things.

We ended up getting DD the matching desk to her bedroom set

DS has the desk. I keep some of his books on it as well as a few toys.

I had one growing up and used it for drawing as a child and did my school work on it later on.

Thanks! My fear is that we don't get it and then in 5-6 years the set is discountinued and we won't be able to get a matching one. Probably getting a Stanley Young America set. I guess I have to layout what is going to fit where and see if we can fit it.
