When you closed - did you know how much..
$$$$ to bring and/or if you needed anything else?
Do we need to tip anyone else except the title guy?
We are closing on Thursday and our lawyer is not returning our calls. I assume personal checks ar ok, right? Sorry if this is a stupid question!
TIA!

Re: When you closed - did you know how much..
your attorney should give you your closing cost amount. he'll give you a breakdown of amounts and who to make them payable to and those usually need to be bank checks. just bring your checkbook in case he underestimated an amount.
and bring a black pen. they dont like blue.
congratulations!!!!

Re: When you closed - did you know how much..
Sorry to hear that but he is probably waiting for the bank to tell him how much money you have to work with after bank fees, etc. He should call you tomorrow with the checks you will need to bring. Also bring your check book in case you have to write a check or two and make sure you have your license. Good luck and congrats.

Re: When you closed - did you know how much..
You may need to bring a bank check for the large amount, and then your checkbook for any other small odds and ends.
Some people dont know until the day of their closing how much they need a check for - then its the mad dash to the bank!
Good luck.

Re: When you closed - did you know how much..
We got the amounts that we needed bank checks for the day before the closing so I went the morning of the closing and took care of that.
We had to write out a few smaller checks the day of the closing as well.

Re: When you closed - did you know how much..
I know your frustration as our lawyer was pretty lax with returning calls and what not. She didn't give us our closing fees until the day of but that was the bank's fault. One check was a bank's check and we brought along our checks just in case. Don't forget your license!

Re: When you closed - did you know how much..
our attorney told us to bring our checkbook to the closing. We found out that morning how much we needed to bring exactly. we only had to write a $75 check at the closing outside of the tip for the title person.

Re: When you closed - did you know how much..
we did a seller's concession so we got money back. We had to bring our checkbook with us for small fees, but I didn't "tip" anyone.

Re: When you closed - did you know how much..
your attourney should've told you. if not, just bring your personal checkbook and you can write everything out on the spot if need be.
i don't think you need to tip the title guy, but that's JMO.

Re: When you closed - did you know how much..
we had to get a certified check for closing andalso brought along blank checks. we had to cover the oil that was already in teh house. we never tipped the title guy. why do that we shelled out 1500 for the title inthe first place and all it is is a piece of paper.

Re: When you closed - did you know how much..
we got the amount that day. It was $2k more than what our GFE was - Good think I transferred extra $$ into my checking from my online savings account
we ended up gettin gmoney back (they messed up the R/E taxes)
we tipped the title guy $150. That actually is a standard practice, My aunt was our attorney, and her friend was the title co we used and expedited our closing.

Re: When you closed - did you know how much..
We had to pay the title closer and a few other small checks at closing.
Apparently you have to use a black pen at closing.
Oh and bring your licenses and proof of homeowners insurance.
Good luck!
