When you cook in your crock pot,

how often do you stir?

I was under the impression that you don't open the lid, but there was rice stuck to the bottom that could have been prevented had I stirred. What to do?

Re: When you cook in your crock pot,

hmm... well i usually run mine when i'm at work, so i'm not usually home to stir it at all. but i'm thinking maybe you could try those crockpot liners they sell... at least then the rice wouldn't be stuck to the actual crockpot. OR... maybe try putting the rice in last, like on top of whatever meat or other stuf fyou had in there. that way, its not sitting right on the bottom, where the heat comes from...

Re: When you cook in your crock pot,

I dont stire - you are supposed to leave the lid on so the heat does not escape

Re: When you cook in your crock pot,

I only stir it up before i turn it on. I never open the lid while it is cooking...

I always open the top when I use my crock pot, I have never noticed any adverse effects.

I know you're not supposed to, but I always stir when I use it. I figure, if something's cooking for 8 hours, however much heat is lost by taking the lid off for a few seconds will be regained. I do wait out the first 3 hours or so, so it kind of "gets going."
