When you moved into your new home
Did the neighbors come by and introduce themselves and welcome you to the neighborhood?

Re: When you moved into your new home
Yes, with both houses, though with the first house they were a little friendlier - 4 of the housewives who live on our block stopped by with a bunch of treats as a housewarming, and invited us to the block party BBQ. This time around we live on a quieter street, though several of our neighbors have stopped by to introduce themselves and a few have dropped off welcome gifts...

Re: When you moved into your new home
Yes - Our real estate agent lives next door, didnt know that till the closing, so we already knew him. But my neighbor on the other side came by to introduce themselves, and we got cards from other neighbors and a dozen donuts from the people across the street and a card Scott

Re: When you moved into your new home
Yes.
We were putting up a new mailbox and they all stopped when they drove by.
Turns out we bought the house from the "weird" lady on the block. They were so happy to see her go and see the house getting fixed up.

Yes. Out neighbor to the right of us brought over cookies from the bakery. Our other neighbor across the street came over with a bottle of wine. Plus everyone waves.

Re: When you moved into your new home
Yes.
Which was odd b/c we had been living in the house right_next_door for 6 years and rarely got a converstaion out of any of them. Once we became home owners (and no longer renters) we moved up in status.

Re: When you moved into your new home
Wow! I am shocked to hear this.
Only one person came to our door - we moved in on the 9th of December and he came over dec 24 with a bottle of wine. he was here a matter of 30 seconds, it was like hi, welcome, gotta go.
The guy behind us came out to say hi when he saw us outside playing with our dog.
And the lady to the side of us (her yard backs up to the side of our house) yelled hello over the fence.
I thought it was a little strange that no one came by.
Oh yeah - one other neighbor never came by - but always waves to us, whether he is driving by or in his driveway.
--it made me feel very unwelcome

Re: When you moved into your new home
We were outside doing yardwork and that is when most people drove by or walked down the road and said hi. Our next-door neighbors are the only ones who actually came to the door. A man who lives the next block over drove by and invitied us to their block party.

DH thinks once it gets warmer out - we might see more of the neighbors. It is not like I want to become best friends with any of them - a wave would be nice or some type of acknowledgement

Re: When you moved into your new home
No, but DH grew up in this house so he already knew quite a few of them. I would introduce myself when I saw them outside. The others MIL had some problems with in the past and I guess we're guilty by association? The people directly across the street won't even wave back.

Re: When you moved into your new home
We closed in winter and by summer time we had met almost all the immediate neighbors.....most just in a passing introduction, but the family next to us and the family next to them have really been great to us.

Re: When you moved into your new home
Not one single person came by to say hi yet, we moved in 12/29. My family is telling me that it's b/c no one is outside in the winter....but it just seems weird, everyone told me that people on the water are so friendly . I was thinking about stopping by the next door neighbor's house to introduce myself but I don't know

Re: When you moved into your new home
Yes, one set of neighbors did. With in a couple of weeks....the husband of the couple next store did. I have no met the wife yet, after 2 years!!!!! Everytime I wave...she turns the other way...Or If I'd walk over...She would walk faster. So I kinda gave up! Her hubby is very nice though...LOVES to talk! haha
