I give a pair of capris and a tshirt for Sept. Then by Oct. I switch it out and give a pair of jeans and a long sleeve shirt until April/May.

Re: when you pack a change of clothes for your DC for preschool..
Its a lot warmer here, BUT
We have two tshirts, one pair of shorts, one pair of capri, two pairs of socks and underwear.
She wears uniforms to school. Her class is FREEZING! Teacher admitted she likes it cool. So she even has a hoodie (already) at school.
We have a little storage bin thing (snaps closed) I have her clothes, sweater, sunblock, bug spray and anti itch cream in a ziplock inside that box.
I check her clothes every 2months. Occassionally someone may accidenty pick something out of her box. I say this only because twice AJ came home in a shirt which I KNOW I don't own. I cleaned it and sent it back. Seasonal change I try to keep up with. I know twice this past year it went from comfy to literally freezing (below 32) overnight. I had to bring clothes just in case. Only once did she come home in shorts when it was 40 outside and I felt so bad! Hence Capri & shorts for now then later its going to be Capri & Sweats
