When you started solids - when did you "wean" DC from formula?

When I read about posts about solids (7-9 months babies), I don't see any mention of milk/formula.

I thought babies had milk/formula until 1 year old. Chat Icon

At what age do you wean them out?

I think that babies still get their nutritional needs from BM/formula until age 1. What we do for DS is he gets rice or oatmeal cereal mixed with fruits or veggies and BM and after he eats that he is offered BM until he is satisfied. We are gradually introducing new foods to him and are part way through stage 1 foods.

We give DD her formula first & then solids this way she gets the nutrition she needs & the food is just a "filler" and for practice for her future eating habits. At 8 1/2 months she still gets 32 oz of formula a day & cereal/fruit/veggies in between.

DD was on formula until she was 1. When I started solids I reduced the amount of oz's in her bottles, but she still was drinking close to 30 oz a day with 3 solid meals a day.

They should get formula/BM till 1 year. In that thread you're referring to (I think), I posted my DD's schedule, which definitely includes lots of formula! Chat Icon

7ish: 8 oz. bottle

10ish: 1 large jar of fruit (4 oz. I think)
2 TBSP. cereal/oatmeal (with 2 oz. formula)

12:30ish: 8 oz. bottle

2:30ish: 1 large jar of veggies (again, 4 oz.)
2 TBSP. cereal/oatmeal (w/ 2 oz. formula)

6ish: 8 oz. formula

he basically did it himself. ..the last maybe 3-6 weeks we have seen him drink less formula overall. Sometimes he will go over 6 hours without a bottle.

Typically he has a bottle at waking up...Around 7:30
Lunch/b-fest around 11:00-12:00 when hes up from nap
Then a bottle at like 1:00
Another 1/2 a bottle sometimes in the mid afternoon
Dinner at 4:45-5:00
Bottle before bed around 6:30

Total 3- 4 bottles , but one is always only like 4 oz's.
