When you washed your babies clothes for the first time** Updated with another Question***
Did you hang them to dry or dry them in the drier? I'm afraid of shrinking them. TIA!
Another question. I have a lot of light colored clothes(pinks, white) Can I wash the darker stuff (greens, purples, blues) with the light stuff? im afraid the colors will blead. Thanks girls ! Im clueless!!

Re: When you washed your babies clothes for the first time
Dryer. And they shrunk LOL
eta - I think it was because I used high heat. Now I dry his clothes on low heat and they don't shrink.
You will also find certain brands hold up better than others. Gerber stinks!

I do this for my regular clothes but I wash everything in cold and then dry everything on low. It keeps my clothes from fading.

I wash everything together for DS and have been doing it since birth...you will end up doing so much laundry that separating colors will drive you crazy
I never had a problem with colors running

Re: When you washed your babies clothes for the first time** Updated with another Question***
Dryer, low heat and I had no problems with anything shrinking at all. But I don't have any gerber clothes. Everything else looks great.
I separate darks and lights and actually washed the baby's things with our things too so I wasn't running very small loads. I've switched our detergent to All Free & Clear (which, unlike All Baby, has no perfume in it -- all other ingredients are the same) and just skip the dryer sheet if the baby's clothes are in the same load since the dryer sheet could change the flame retardant in the baby's clothing (even the Bounce Free & Clear which I always use says not for use on children's clothing).
I was all clothes tap cold and cold so I shouldn't have to worry about colors bleeding, but we generate enough laundry that I can do lights and darks separately, which is what I always do.
I even threw the baby's snugglie infant seat insert into the wash and it came out perfect! (Just look at some items to see if they have to be air dried, like that did.)

We separated colors but probably didn't have to because we washed everything cold/cold on the delicates cycle, then dryer on lowest heat setting.

For the first time I washed everything in cold on delicate and separated the darks from lights. I'm sure in the future they all will get put together..lol I also dried on low heat.
I hear air drying is good though...but we'll see how that goes.

I never separated out any dark clothes from her light clothes. I have never had any issues with colors bleeding. Carter's clothing holds up pretty well and as people have said before..gerber stinks!

Thanks everyone! I ended up seprerating lights from darks but I put one light outfit in the darks to see if anything bled and it didnt so I wont be doing that again! I dont seem to have any Gerber clothes which i guess I should be happy about since everyone said they shrink!

Re: When you washed your babies clothes for the first time** Updated with another Question***
Oh I'm sure it's not a big deal, especially for the first wash or two!!! Check the package because maybe yours doesn't say this?
Plus, seriously, if the baby catches on fire, the last thing you'll be thinking about is "at least she's wearing flame-retardant clothing"!!! I kinda wonder what that's all about anyway.

Re: When you washed your babies clothes for the first time** Updated with another Question***
I tossed everything in the dryer. I used the medium setting, and figured that they'd be fine. Call me lazy, but I threw dark and light colors in with whites, and nothing bled.

I dry everything (including mine and DH's stuff) on delicate w/ the exception of towels and sheets -
All of Sean's stuff has been fine, w/ the exception of carters clothes - which just shrink if you look @ them the wrong way
Onesies are fine, but the pants and shirts all shrink !!
