When your baby first slept through the night...

Was he/she sleeping on side, back, belly? I have included a poll since I know this is a controversial topic.

Also, what was he/she wearing (swaddle, miracle blanket, sleep sack, only PJs, etc.)

Thanks!

Re: When your baby first slept through the night...

She was about 8-10 weeks old (don't remember exactly Chat Icon ) She was swaddled, still on her back.

BTW, I consider sleeping through the night to be waking only for a bottle in the middle of the night and going back to sleep right away-- not sure if that's what others consider it though, I've always been confused by that. Chat Icon

Re: When your baby first slept through the night...

DS #1--2 months old, slept for 8+ hours the day he turned 2 months, on his back, no swaddle.

DS#2--now is 2 months, 3 days old and has not slept for more than 3 1/2 straight hours...the swaddle doesn't help either---hes on his back as well

Re: When your baby first slept through the night...

DD was about 7 weeks and was sleeping 11-6 without waking. She was swaddled, on her back, in her crib.

Re: When your baby first slept through the night...

She was 6 weeks and on her back, no swaddle. We stopped swaddling around 4 weeks because I am a bad swaddler and it kept coming loose.

He just did this (kinda) this past weekend. On his back, no swaddle, from 12-6:30. He's 11 weeks old.

DS layed on his back and I swaddled him. He never liked being swaddled before but at 10 weeks old I tried out to Swaddle Me because he wasn't sleeping through the night and I had to go back to work when he was 12 weeks old. I did it one night and that was the night he slept from 9:30pm till 7:00am! It's been the same ever since....sometimes he sleeps till 8am!!! It's great!!!

Re: When your baby first slept through the night...

Good lord... it is totally pathetic that I don't know for sure??? (no memory!)

OK, here's what I think. Lucas was swaddled and put on his back until he was able to roll over at night. Once he started doing that (I think around 3-4 months) we took him out of the swaddle, started putting him in a sleep sak and he slept on his tummy.

I was comfortable with him sleeping on his tummy as long as I knew he could get himself there. We would actually put him on his back and he would just immediately roll over. Chat Icon

Sleep through the night, what's that??? LOL

When she was a few weeks old, she slept MUCH BETTER on her side in the sleep positioner and swaddled...

Now she sleeps on her back, no sleep positioner and recently we stopped swaddling - we do use a sleepsack...

She doesn't sleep through the night...she's manipulating me with her paci...but I don't think it's cause she's on her back

DD slept through the night from weeks 6 - 11 (7 hours plus) swaddled on her back. Then she stopped sleeping through the night. Now at 7+months old she is no longer swaddled (we use a Halo Sleep Sack) and she often turns to her side but she only sleeps until 3 or 4 before needing a bottle.

Re: When your baby first slept through the night...

Thank you all! DS2 is 4 1/2 months and slept in his crib for the first time last night Chat Icon Chat Icon. He has been in the miracle blanket, on his back/side since coming home from the hospital. He sleeps 5 - 6 hours before waking for his first feeding (technically that is considered sleeping through the night Chat Icon ), but after that feeding, I tend to take him in bed with me to nurse/sleep. He then goes another 3 - 4 hours. I would love for him to go longer than that first 5 hours so I was hoping there is some miraculous thing you ladies have been doing to prolong the sleeping!

Re: When your baby first slept through the night...

When he first started sleeping through the night he was still swaddled so on his back (10 weeks) but that wasn't for much longer. He was soon moved to his belly and he's had a blanket since day one.
