Where are those police scanner people? (Kings Park)
There are cops running through the woods across from my house, and a helicopter circling overheard...

they just came out with a guy in cuffs. There are now about 10 police cars, and the road is blocked off.

no, the police wouldn't tell us anything. I'm not even sure they kept the guy - they took his handcuffs off.
There were a lot of park police involved too, but no one was talking.

wonder what that was about,
I feel like a few years ago newsday reported more of local news and crime. now they hardly ever keep up.

you could check out http://www.radioreference.com/
they broadcast a lot of police and fire stations over the internet. they also have an app for phones.

That must be it - the timing fits, as does the helicopter and involvement of the park police. Thanks Julz.
They didn't wind up arresting anyone. They came out of the woods with 2 guys - one on a bike, and one in handcuffs, but they wound up letting both of them go after they weren't identified as the suspect.
Ugh, that they didn't catch him. And I hate that the police wouldn't give us any info, and said "everything's fine now" when they were all leaving.
