Where did you find your lawyer for your closing?

NOT that we are anywhere near closing since we haven't even placed a bid...but where did you find your lawyer? And how much does a lawyer usually charge???

I am just amazed at how many people are involved in this whole process

Re: Where did you find your lawyer for your closing?

u should have a lawyer during the whole process ready to answer any questions from ur first bid to the closing day so dont think u need to get a lawyer just for closing.....we got ours through my family they used her for refinancing and shes been awesome....i really love her....i think she charged my parents $400 for the refi im sure ours will be more so im guessing about $700 but ill tell u more when we find out...she works out of flushing queens but i dont see why she wouldnt be available for those in nassau as for suffolk though im not sure Chat Icon only bc it would definitely be a distance...fm for details

Re: Where did you find your lawyer for your closing?

We got ours through a recommendation from FH's boss..not sure what he's going to cost us, though, because we are in the same boat as you, not even having made a bid yet..good luck..I see your questions lately are similar to mine...we must be at the same stage and hearing the same things from a lot of people (ie. prices going down further, debating on an agent, etc.) Here's some (more, ignore if too much) advice...if you love it and can afford it, go for it...make sure you like the area, the house, what's surrounding the house, etc. Good luck!

Our REA recommended him - he was the one that she used for her own closing, so we figured he couldn't be half bad! We were very happy with him and would recommend him in a heartbeat!

Through friends and our RE agent also recommeded one. We shopped around and ultimately went with a friend's lawyer (who is a friend of theirs).

We found that lawyers charged anywhere from $800 to $1700.

Jerry Casel was reccomended to us by other LIF members and friends. He helped us out all along the way from bidding to closing. He charged 1200.00 but the bank and seller absorbed most of his cost....

Re: Where did you find your lawyer for your closing?

He is a friend of the family. DH is good friends with his son and has known him forever.

Usually the rate is anywhere from $800- $1200. I definitely recommend getting a lawyer early so they can look over the contract details and you can contact them with any other questions. They are so helpful.

Re: Where did you find your lawyer for your closing?

It's a referral from my FIL who was using a lawyer to deal with the estate closures on my DH's deceased grandparents. He recommended the lawyer and we're very happy that we used him.
