Where do you buy fabric?
Are there other/better options than Joann's on LI? I know many people who have used frills n things for years, but my friend just purchased fabric there and said it smelled of smoke. I don't know of any other places for fabric. I went to Fabric Mill twice and it seemed $$$ and more for home decor. I'm new to sewing and looking for other places and wondering if Joann's is considered expensive or fair. Thanks so much ladies!

Here in Lancaster Co., Pa, I buy fabric at Wal-Mart and The Flower and Craft Warehouse. How about your local Wal-Mart? Mary

They recently did away with the fabric in the Wal-marts around here, but thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Where do you buy fabric?
I usually shop at Joann's. I think their prices are ok. I signed up for their email and get coupons that can be used on non sale items. For drapery, etc I go to Fabric Mill. I have bought things at Frills and things, but usually just trims, not fabric.

Re: Where do you buy fabric?
What are you looking for? Quilting fabrics 100% cottons? You have Sew Whats New, Sentimental Stitches and Pieceful Quilting... If you like more of the modern prints, Joann has a good selection.
The price of cotton has been nuts lately and the prices are going up.
I saw that fabric store in Huntington the other day - it's on the left heading north.

Re: Where do you buy fabric?
Just a suggestion, don't know if it will work, but it did for me about 10 years ago. My friend and I went to an upholstery shop and asked if they had any scraps they didn't want anymore. More often than not, I got free bags of fabric. I think once I paid $5. It's heavy duty fabric and great for small projects.
