Where do you have all of your kids toys?
I live in a colonial with a basement. I rent out my basement though.
On my first floor is a living room, dining room, kitchen, kitchen table area, and an office.
I don't have a seperate cozy den area. My living room kind of is my den.
So, right now I have the swing, bouncy, and newborn to toddler rocker in the living room. I plan on taking out the exercauser soon. And, the jumperoo. I am fine with all of the big items in the living room -- but what will make me crazy is when he starts to play with his little toys down the road.
I am thinking of converting the office into more of a playden area. Set up all of his toys in here. I will have to get a smaller desk bc this one is massive.
OR - should I just make do with his toys in the living room. I just don't think there is any room at all to set up toy bins and whatnot. I don't mind the toys going in there to play - I just don't know where I would store them.
Sooooo - my question is -- what do you do?

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
We rent a house right now, and all of Julia's toys are in my living room... I hate it but don't have room anywhere else for them. ThankGod we are moving soon and then will have a playroom for her in our new house in the basement.
If you can make one of your bedrooms (office room) into a playroom that would be great, get rid of all the clutter in the living room.

It's so hard - because there is just so much "stuff" -- between his toys and things -- and our crap we need to buy a second house just for storage!!

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
When it's time for lots of toys, the jumperoo, exersaucer, bouncy seat, swing will be put away, so you'll have lots of room.
my dd was done with all of the above around 5-9 months old. Exersaucer/jumperoo-she was done with when she started crawling/cruising, bouncy seat was much sooner, and swing she was done with at 5 months.
She started getting lots of toys that took up space like FP house, etc. around 7-8 months old.
I just kinda switched everything out as she didn't play or use it anymore.
i have a lvg/dining room combo and kitchen on my first floor and i kept the exersaucer in teh kitchen, jumperoo in the lvg room. Now i have all their toys in my lving room along with #2's swing and activity mat.
I keep everything in one room cause it's easier to watch them when all their stuff is in one place. Plus that's where they spend most of their awake time.
HTH"s! ETA: the wood toybox DD got for xmas from my parents is a lifesaver and spacesaver, i constantly rotate toys in and out. my lvg room looks like a daycare center :)

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
I have a few in her room (its really small), most in the living room, and some in a very small room downstairs we call the playroom. They somehow all end up in the living room anyway cause thats where we always are so it just makes more sense. I try to clean them up each night so they are all piled up in a corner.

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
Our house is small, and we don't have much storage space. We also don't have an extra room to use as a playroom. SO we just put each childs toys in their own rooms.
DD has a trundle bed without the mattress, so we use that for some toys and I love those plastic storage bins as well because I can stack them in her closet, and she is big enough to get the one she wants and open it.

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
You've been to my house, so you saw that we keep EVERYTHING in the basement. That's our playroom. It keeps my upstairs always looking neat, which I love. I don't know what I'd do without my basement.

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
I had a 66 gallon storage bin in the corner of the LR in the old house and he took everything out durning the day and at night it all went back in their. The big things start to change also. When he starts to pick himself up from the bouncy seat, you could put that away and take out the jumperoo since you the rocker anyway. Then when he is done with his swing you can replace it with the exersaucer.

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
DH's cousin has 2 kids, ages 1 & 3. She puts all their toys in storage bins and keeps them in her basement (you can store them in your office area). She brings up one bin at a time and lets them play until they get bored, pack it up and than replace it. I remember my cousins used to do this as well with her 3 kids. Kids get bored and overwhelmed by toys very easily. A few toys out at 1 time is more than sufficient and when their done just switch the toys. This is what I plan on doing with DS's toys.

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
We have a pretty small house- its only 1800 sq. ft and one room is a dedicated office for my DH who works from home.
We have a open floor plan but have a seperate den area. In there currently is her pack and play with toys in it. The seperate living room is basically all toys- plus her exersaucer and jumperoo. She is outgrowing those and they will go in the gargage for number 2 and the pack and play will move to the living room.
Basically the house is overrun with toys and crap.

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
In the living room. I put them all away at the end of day in a big basket, with the exception of the big things that just get stacked in the corner. We also have a net hung above her changing table to contain all her plush toys. We bring those down a couple at a time.
We live in a Manhattan apartment so we really don't have options as to where her toys go.

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
we have a cape and only use the main floor for now. we need to redo the basement/upstairs.
all of their toys is in our living room. They have a few in their room, but mostly it is all in the living room. I have the toy box and a wagon in there for when I "clean up". Most I usually just leave the toys out.

I live in a shoe box compared to you! Our house is 950 sq feet and our basement is partially finished. Where do we keep the toys, you ask........EVERYWHERE!!! It doesn't really bother me. There are toys in the living room, DD's room and in the basement, not to mention the ones that she leaves here and there.

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
DS's toys are all in his room. It looks like a toy store in there!! DD's toys, well she doesn't have too many yet, but right now they are confined to a large wicker basket in the living room.

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
I have a toybox in DD's room and there are a few big toys in the living room and also in the basement. Everynight before bed, DD helps (well...watches ) us clean up. I want to make sure she continues this habit as she gets older

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
Thanks everyone! I have a toybox in his room also which is of course filled. Basically, the bottom line is you never have enough room in a house for everything we buy these kids!

This is what we are in the process of doing right now. We also clean up everything after they go down for a nap and for the night - it makes it look less cluttered.

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
I don't think there's a room in my house that doesn't have toys! Most of them are in our family room, but I also have a large basket in the LR, another basket of toys in the kitchen, and a closet in our guest room has more toys. In DS's room he has a toy box and some of the larger toys are just left out up there. When he gets a little older I might consider making a playroom in our finished basement, but right now he's still too young to play alone somewhere so it's toys everywhere!

Re: Where do you have all of your kids toys?
We keep most of DS toys in the livingroom. A few of his toys end up around the house but for the most part he plays where we can watch him. He does have some toys in his bedroom, but he's mostly only in there for diaper changes and bedtime! I honestly have to say that I don't feel overwhelmed by his toys. I guess that's a good thing for me, but not for DS! lol Christmas is comng though!

We have DS's toys in his room, the family room and our bedroom. We have a basement, but it's not finished. I would LOVE to finish it to make a huge playroom!!
