We used her car seat while in Hawaii. We put the sunshade up that was attached to the car seat. She was 9 months and we could use sunscreen too.
Maybe use the car seat and bring one of those umbrellas or tent things so you are all in the shade.

ETA: I did not take Grace to the beach until she was 9 months old.

I don't have any advice - casue I didn't bring DD to the beach at that age - my opinion - I think it is too young. I was so afraid that DD would get dehydrated from the heat.

Re: Where do you put your baby at the beach?
I have no plans to take Emma to the beach this summer. Too much work IMO! Not to mention the sand getting in the bottles, etc. I did buy a foldable beach tent though (like a playhut type that folds flat), but really plan to use it at the pool or just outside. I would look for something with a high SPF and vents so it doesn't get hot in it.

I didnt bring my DD at that age either. If you do want to go then I would only take her first thing in the morning and definitely not after 12 noon..but I am a worry wart so dont mind me!!! I know there are tents you can get at onestepahead that have SPF in them...

Re: Where do you put your baby at the beach?
i DID take my kids to the beach thier first year... i have other kids that love the beach so i wouldn't have kept them home.. i brought my pack and play and a huge umbrella.. i put the umbrella directly over the pack and play and put a white sheet in it for the baby to lay on.. actually there is a nice breeze on the beach and it was always cooler than sitting in my backyard!

I have been bringing Cadence to the beach already and she is 6 weeks. I use the Kel-Gar Portable Kids' Sun Dome. And she sleeps the whole time.... For her Formual bottles I put them in a cooler and they are fine. IMO its the summer and you need to enjoy yourself and the baby will be fine if its not 100 degrees out. Image Attachment(s):

That's the one I have. Do you just lay her down in it or do you put the infant seat in there? DS loves the beach, so maybe I could attempt to do it on a not so hot day. I'm just dreading lugging all of the gear down to the sand!

Re: Where do you put your baby at the beach?
I haven't actually gone to the beach w/ the babies yet, but I plan to this summer. I bought this beach tent . IT is UV protected and has vents which is nice. I also have an umbrella and was debating bringing a pack - n - play. The amount of equipment makes my headspin but I still think it'll be worth it!
