Where does/did you newborn sleep?
Um, so I'm about to confess that my DS (1 week old) WILL NOT SLEEP ANYWHERE but either in my arms with the boppy or on our mattress in between us. We try to put her in the basinett/packnplay... we tried to put her in the crib... she wouldnt stop crying. Is this normal for now?

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
Ava slept in her crib for the most part when she was a newborn, although we had a few weeks where she only slept in her swing next to our bed, then in her bouncy seat that we put in the crib at night. Are you swaddling her?

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
My DDs slept in the Papasan (at night) for about the first 2 weeks. When they're crying and will fall asleep you don't care where it is, as long as they are asleep!

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
My DD slept for the 1st 2 weeks on our chests at night with us sleeping almost upright, during the day she slept in her bassinet. Bad i know but it's the only way we got a couple winks shut eye during the night.
Have you tried swaddling?

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
Yes, we've been swaddling her... she just constantly wants to feel me... and since I'm breastfeeding, I think she's even more attached to my bosom! LOL Its been the only way to get her to sleep for a period of 3-4 hrs straight at night...

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
we did the same thing and she never left...haha 5 months and she is still in between us. We are going to start weaning her though. She has had alot of changes going on lately so I didnt want to just stick her in her crib just yet.

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
My DD had a rough beginning between jaundice and the colic so wherever she would sleep....that's where she would be. She slept in the swing for a week, then her papasan chair, on us (of course), in our bed and in the bassinet a little. We got her in the crib consistently at about 4 months (when the colic started to subside).
I think you should just do what you have to do. You have plenty of time to break habits, especially when your DC is so young.

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
Steven slept mostly in his crib. Some nights he would sleep next to us. My rule was wherever he slept, Iwould leave him there. He did like to sleep in my arms quite a bit and I didn't mind it.

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
At almost 8 weeks, we put Taylor anywhere that she will sleep. That means, sometimes we move her from the bassinett to the swing or the bouncy seat. She doesnt really like to sleep in bed with us, but if she did, we would try putting her in there as well. Whatever it takes....that is our motto

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
Up until 4 weeks, DS was either in our bed (I felt like I nursed him non-stop, so it was just easier) or in his bassinet. After that first couple of weeks I made sure to put him back in the bassinet after he ate, even though he was NOT happy about it for the first couple of nights. But then he just got used to it (swaddling also helped a lot.) At 3 months he went into the crib.

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
I think at the beginning if they're having a hard time sleeping, anywhere you can get them to sleep to let yourself get some sleep is fine! We had Matteo sleep in the swing for the first 6-8 weeks. And we were on the couches! But we had a rough start and needed sleep.
After that he slept in his crib...once we swaddled him, no problems in the crib...of course he'd wake up but he did okay there. Not sure if you've tried but swaddling was a savior for us!

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
At the beginning Emma would fall asleep in her bouncy seat, so we'd let her stay there. Then we were able to get her to sleep in the co-sleeper.
ETA: For naps, anything goes- sometimes she naps in the swing, sometimes I can get her into the pack and play, sometimes while nursing she falls asleep on the pillow and I just leave her on the couch and sit there while she sleeps.

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
DD was in her crib from day 1 fully swaddled (arms and legs- and still is at 5 months), however since she was waking every 3 hours to eat after her 5am feeding I would let her sleep in the carseat or bouncy next to my bed.
She was through the night in her crib by 6 weeks (but it didn't last forever ) She still sleeps in her crib but she gets up earlier now.

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
DS has slept in his bassinet next to our bed since day one. For naps he will sleep anywhere...swing, boppy or with me. At night he likes to be close to me or have me holding him to help him go to sleep and than when he is sleeping after a few minutes I put him down.

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
WE have only had Emma home for one day but it seems the one place she likes to fall sleep is in our arms. Although today she napped every time in the swing. I don;t want to get her in the habit of just falling asleep in our arms. Do you think its too early to establish a routine, especially if you are breastfeeding?

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
In bed with us, then in a snuggles nest between us because I was too afraid and wasn't sleeping then in an Amby bed. Finally at 6 months she made it to the crib.

Re: Where does/did you newborn sleep?
She was swaddled in her bassinet next to our bed and used a snuggle nest- I doubt she would have slept in her bassinet without that snuggle nest though. It was a life saver.
