we stayed at theboston park plaza
it was very nice! and walking distance to everything.
we got a good deal from a site like hoteldiscount.com or something like that.
if you have AAA, call the hotel directly and see what they can do for you.

I just recently stayed at the Boston Weston Waterfront in S. Boston. It was a beautiful hotel, but not in walking distance of anything like shops or restaurants. We took the T where we needed to go.

the interconental is really nice - brand new -nice rooms -in financial district though
but some other good ones are lenox hotel, sheraton, westin at coply, they are right in the middle of back bay close to newbury, shopping, and bars
other good ones are the hilton and millenium close to fenuil hall and all the irish bars over there and the harbor

I have not been inside this hotel in a while, but, it is a GREAT location, and central to everything
