Where out east?

Might be going out east to the north fork this weekend. I really want a good lobster roll. Where can I find one? Not a lobster salad roll though, just a roll with lobster maybe a teeny tiny bit of mayo and on lettuce is okay. No fillers like celery and onions etc. - I see that a lot around here unfortunately. Anyway, thanks for any suggestions! :)

I always felt like they use a lot of mayo/fillers.

I just had one at Love Lane Kitchen in Mattituck...so good! Whole claws and everything.

Thank you! I Love Love Lane - didn't realize they did Lobster rolls! Im not a fan of the lobster rolls at The Lobster roll - too much stuffin it for me. I didn't realize they did a plain one though.
Same thing with Gosmans. Like their food, but the lobster rolls are filled with stuff. But I think we are doing the north fork. I just want a simple roll without fillers - you know? Like a lobster roll vs a lobster Salad roll. haha

Also - I despise celery and I find places around here put ti in the rolls. No idea why. I also grew up in Maine and doing that was a sin. hahaha.

I hate hate hate celery so lobster salad rolls are tough for me. I love the lobster roll I get at the lobster roll. It's a warm potato bun with tons of huge lobster pieces warmed and a side of melted butter. That's it.

I had no idea that celery doesn't belong in a lobster roll! Although I love celery, I think we should road trip it to Maine this summer!

Okay then I have to try that one. Thank you!

The ones I grew up on were always just lobster meat on a toasted buttered bun. Some places put a little mayo (never that thin dressing) or they put butter, or mayo on the side. Sometimes there is a bed of lettuce. But never ever anything else. The traditional lobster roll style is just done differently on LI and that's fine. But I just hate celery so much that I can't do the salad style. I got one last summer that had celery and chopped green and red peppers in it. I was so upset because I don't care for raw peppers at all - and it was in a really runny dressing. And it was like $18!!!

I completely agree. Here are the lobster rolls from the lobster roll. One of the left is obviously the lobster salad. I get the one of the right. Pure lobster meat.

So you have to crack the claws and get the meat out yourself on that one?
Seems like a lot of work for a sandwich!

The one on the left is too much mayo and I see green stuff in it. haha. On the right, I have never seen it come unassembled. Are the claws already out of the shell when it arrives? I have to find a pic of my favorite lobster rolls...let me find them on yelp...

It's just lobster meat. No shells, nothing to do. Maybe the picture isn't doing it justice

haha okay. Well it looks like a suitable option! I wonder why only claw meat though? Not that anything is wrong with claw meat, I just wonder why not include tail meat too? Hmmm.

haha tomorrow or sunday. But I crave lobster rolls all summer. It was made worse when I had an excellent one in maine 2 weeks ago. Just made me want more of them. There is something divine about the cool sweet lobster meshing in flavor with the crisp buttered roll. Im just making this worse on myself now. Chat Icon

You have me squinting at all these pics! I think they just do a good job of not disturbing the meat when they remove it from the shell. I know the claws are supposed to be the most tender but I always have issues eating the end bc of the way it looks like a claw. Very silly since I know what it is but it just weirds me out. And I now want a lobster roll for the first time in my life...the buttery no mayo or celery kind too!

It's really hard to tell from the picture, but it's definitely straight up meat.

I'm so hungry right now!
