Where to find a nice (but affordable) selection of kids' bikes (for a 4 year old)
Want to get DD a 'big girl' bike for her 4th birthday. Want a nice, quality one that will last a few years...obviously starting out with training wheels first.
And she has requested her favorite/obsession color, yellow I'm hoping to find a girly yellowish bike

We just got DD a yellow and purple Dora bike from the TRU in bayshore. It's 14" and cost $90.

I did an internet search yesterday for bikes. I didn't see anything yellow, but I wasn't specifically looking for color, I was really comparing price. All bikes are on sale right now ar Toys R Us (or they were yesterday). Target also has a nice size selection.

Thanks ladies. What size is good for a 4-year-old? I have no clue about bikes!

OMG DD would FLIP over this one, and it's a good yellow compromise
Yellow rims, but Rainbow Brite design so not all yellow. She LOVES Rainbow Brite.
But it's 12 inches....too small?

Oh, there's a 14 inch same one as above (Rainbow Brite)....hmmm....how do I know which size we need?
14 inch says 4+years....so I'm guessing we'd want the bigger one.

Re: Where to find a nice (but affordable) selection of kids' bikes (for a 4 year old)
I just got a 12 inch and it's the perfect size. The 16 was too big. Not sure how long it will last, but I didn't want something that was too big. I think smaller is better when they are learning to balance, etc.
I would go sit on them at the store before you order because the 12" I got says age 2-6 and there is no way a 2 year old could ride it. I think their age recs are screwy sometimes.

We got DD a 14". The 12" was just perfect but no way that she would be able to use it next year. The 16" was too big. 14" is not that common but TRU did have a few including the yellow Dora bike we bought her.

Thank you! I think we saw the one you have online and DD liked it, but then we saw the Rainbow Brite one and she was in love Problem is that one is online only, so we can't try it out....but I'm thinking 14" for this year for the same reason as you said, to get a few years out of it. Maybe I'll take her to try out another 14" one soon.
Thanks

Google Huffy bikes. Their website tells you how to measure.

We just got DD (3yrs old) a 16 inch and she is a good fit for it. We had a 12 inch and she seemed too big.

C, I'd go to Walmart or Target & just have her sit on them. DD will be getting a bike for her 4th birthday this summer too & she fits perfect on the 16" (she's on the tall side though...but I think your DD is too)
