Where to go for Christmas Vacation
We would like to go somewhere for maybe 5 days with the kids over Xmas break. Kids are 9 and 6. Neither have skied ever..DH is a snowboarder..I am more of an apres ski person :)
Anywhere you could recommend that is close to a mountain but has some other stuff going on close by that the kids and I could check out if they are not happy learning to ski.
Driving distance from long island would be best.

Where to go for Christmas Vacation
Smuggler's Notch looks fun. Any of the Poconos mountains (many there). Rocking Horse Ranch (but when I called, they were booked)
We had booked Camelback Lodge, it's at Camelback mountain. Indoor water park, etc. and skiing and snowtubing right outside the door. But 5 days would be overkill and super expensive. I ended up just cancelling because $1700 for two nights was ridiculous when it included nothing but the waterpark.
