Where to have August "1st Bday" Party?
I know it's early, but I'm thinking of reserving a park picnic area for my DS's 1st Bday Party in August, which I'd have to do REALLY soon. I'm just concerned that there would be no "back up plan" if it rained and we're stuck at a park or beach?
Where else is a good, relatively inexpensive place to have a first bday party? We COULD do it at our house, but we're limited on space. And it's a Town House, so there's no "yard" for a BBQ.
DH doesn't want to go nuts spending money for the bday party, so we're looking for a kid/family friendly, nice location.
Any suggestions?

I don't know the cost but my friend went to a party at Hempstead lake park carousel pavilion. She said it was nice.

Thank you! I'll check it out! I guess it has an overhang in case of inclement weather?

We're going to have the same issue, and knowing our luck, there will be a hurricane! Our engagement party was in tropical storm Danny's wake, our wedding was Hurricane Earl, and DS was born the Friday before Hurricane Irene... I think we'll stay inside.

We are going to look at Cedar Beach, The Delta Lady boat out of Captree, Venetian Shores and possibly Belmont (the race track).

Re: Where to have August "1st Bday" Party?
we did my July & August 1st birthday parties at Cedar Creek Park in Wantagh...
we had the party under the pavilion thingies (but you need permits) and for summer babies its not to early to get the permits...
some parks the permits and the dates go fast. for both kids i reserved the park the day permits went on sale.
we didn't do a raindate we hoped for good weather and we got it.
most of the time the rain in Aug is passing showers, and with the pavilions you are covered.
