Where to shop for an area rug?
I'm looking for a plain light green area rug, solid color. Either round or rectangle. I really want to be able to see in person rather than order online. Having a hard time finding plain solid colors, most of what we see has designs/patterns.
I'm in Western Suffolk but will shop anywhere on LI.
Any suggestions?

Re: Where to shop for an area rug?
We looked for a solid rug for a little while and then chose a pattern.
We looked in: - Fortunoff's - Macy's (furniture store in Carle Place) - Home Goods - Home Depot - Ikea - Lowe's - furniture stores
We didn't look in any carpet stores, but they may have area rugs, too.

Try Costco or BJ's.

JCPenny, catalog or online. Many solid rugs.

You can purchase a regular carpet from a carpet store and have the ends bound so it can be an area rug size. I need a big area rug and when the time comes I will probably do that. There is more of a selection of plain colors and fabric which is what I want also.

We did this. We picked the carpet out at Home Depot and got the perfect color green since there is such a big selection and they bound it for us. We were able to get a runner and an area rug for cheaper than the price of a rug...plus we had rug left over. ETA: I found this alot easier than searching all over for the perfect size and color. With this, you give them the dimensions. Alot easier if you want a solid colored rug.

I totally agree! I actually got a large light green area rug from there for 50 dollars! It is surprisingly not crap!
