In my 20s and 30s I would choose choice 2. Now in my 50s, been there and done that and dont like most people anymore so choice 1 sounds dreamy.
This is 100% me. Living in isolation sounds like a dream come true for me these days.
Ditto. After dealing with people at work all day, a quick commute to a quiet home sounds like a dream come true.
It’s pretty nice. I have my relationships in my life as I want to have them. I am not a social person at all. I get enough everyday social interaction at work.
I work from home now so I guess that I forget about the dynamic of having work friends. Still though, I like to be around people so the first choice would probably feel a little too lonely. On the flip side, right now I can't stand people so it is somewhat appealing, but only for the short term.

I’m currently in a very small village and the population is only the base. On Friday you get to leave early (11.30 instead of the usual 12.30 during the week) and everyone goes home to their families (the soldiers are from all over here). The bus stops running on the weekend. It’s nice, but I prefer the town I want to live in.
