Which brand ovulation kit do you use?
Which days in your cycle do you start testing?
We got pregnant with DS on our first try last time around. I had gone on vacation without DH and had thought we'd have to wait for the next cycle since we'd be apart during O time. Now that I think of it, maybe I just ovulate way early. I feel like we timed it perfectly this time around and got a BFN. We obviously didn't time it right.

Re: Which brand ovulation kit do you use?
I used the OPKS from early-pregnancy-tests.com and also clearblue easy digital OPK with the smiley.
I use the early pregnancy test OPKs until the two lines started getting close in color and then I switched to the clearblue easy to be certain.
The clearblue easy are $$, but I like that you can use FMU. You don't have to worry about holding for a few house or your urine being too dilute.
ETA: I usually have a 33 day cycle. I start testing on CD10, but didn't get my first +OPK until CD19...I used a lot of tests.

What is FMU?

Before going to an RE, I used to use Clearblue Easy Digitals the one with the face. Its easy- there's either a or an empty circle....there's no guessing

IMO the clearblue easy OPK's with the smiley faces are the easiest because it takes all the guess work out of it! they are more expensive but total worth it! good luck this month!!

Re: Which brand ovulation kit do you use?
To conceive DS I used the Clear Blue Easy OPK (got pregnant that month). Our first month TTC this time around, I got a CVS OPK which came with 20 test strips, and it is ok to use FMU. The test worked and I saw my peak at CD21, O'ed at CD22 which was the same as when TTC with DS. I'm in the 2WW now, so don't know if it's a BFP yet.
ETA: the CVS kit was 19.99

Re: Which brand ovulation kit do you use?
I used the First Response (the ones where the 2 lines have to match up).
I wouldn't recommend, I was always way too diluted when I POAS and never got the lines.
I got PG with zero help from them
Do the CBE with the They're supposedly the best ones by far.
Good Luck!

First of all, don't be down on yourself. You didn't do anything wrong. Even if you time everything perfectly and BD on all the "right" days, your chances of becoming pg are about 25%, depending on your age and other factors.
As for the ovulation kits - I've only ever tried the ClearBlue Easy one, the one with the smiley face. I've seen pics of the other ones online (with the 2 lines, like a pg test) and they look really easy to misinterpret. So I just spend the big bucks for CBE and peace of mind.

We're going away next weekend (when I'm supposed to O) so I think we will try the old fashioned way.
If I get another BFN, I will definitely get the Clear Blue smiley ones for our 3rd cycle.
How many come in a pack for how much $?
DH feels so strongly about not buying these ovulation kits.

This is them:
I got that from walmart.com which is selling them for $24.99. There are 7 strips in the pack. So assuming you have a pretty regular cycle and will need to test from days 10-16 or so, it's $25 a month.

I think this is the same thing. You can get 20 of them for $32!
