Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
I was just wondering if anyone else was just going with the flow and see whats happens? or are you all about checking temperature, ovulation kits? Right day to do the deed etc? I guess because we are JUST starting out with this whole process I really haven't gotten into all that stuff yet. we are just going with the it and if it happens it happens attitude.

We are officially starting next month and the plan is to ease into it and see what happens. I am trying to learn as much as possible about temping, charting, etc. so that if need be we have a plan.

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
I'm with you! I'm not into checking my cervical fluid (nor do i know what to look for), or do i have the patience to check and record my temperature every day! We're just going with the flow and crossing our fingers! The only thing i DID do the last month was sign up for fertilityfriend.com and see when my O-date was!

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
I will probably start TTC in a year or two and I am going to do one year of just having fun and seeing what happens. I have anxiety and all of the charting and temping would NOT be good for my health and make it MUCH harder for me to concieve!

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
I started the temping 2 months ago...this month I am really not into it and it caused too much anxiety for me in previous months...I think I am going to skip it this month and see what happens. Plus I think I may have been doing it wrong AND I was doing it at all different times so it was not accurate

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
i completely understand where you are coming from with the whole not wanting to strees thing, etc...
I just wanted to address the time/patience thing with temping. I started this month with it and there's NOTHING to it.. Seriously - you take your temp when you wake up in the morning (though it does have to be at the same time every day) and put it into a calendar thing/program (like fertility friend). That's it - nothing more, nothing less.
The CM thing - again, NOTHING to it. When you use the bathroom, you wipe, take a sec, look at what's on the paper & DONE. That's all...end of story..
I was GOING to take the 'whatever' approach and then i sat down and realized that my age, dave's age and my health are all major factors in conception....so there ya go.

when i got pregnant the first time, i did not use any methods.. we just we not being careful.. we got pregnant ..
now the 2nd time.. i am doing the same.. except this is my 2nd month trying so i just use mymonthlycycles to see when i would be ovulating.. even though its not 100% true.. i just know around the best time to BD.

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
We took the "whatever" approach in our first month. When AF came 9 days late that month (or so I thought, because I didn't really understand my body) we were devastated and decided to kick it up a notch. The next few months we used OPKs. The few months after that used CBEFM. And now, as sort of a last resort, we are temping/charting (along with tracking CM, using CBEFM, and using OPKs).
I can understand not wanting to go crazy in the first months - but please make sure you know approximately when you are ovulating! I had no idea - I was going based on what I thought, which in reality was nowhere near correct. I feel like that was just wasted time for me.

We are doing the same thing. I actually signed up for Mymonthlycycles.com. We are just going with the flow and seeing what happens. Of course we will BD more around when my O-Date should be according to the website.

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
I keep track of my cycle on Monthly cycles but other than that (and the occasional look at the toilet paper) we are just going with the flow. I still don't think that DH gets that there is a sort of science to the whole thing so I don't want to starting doing anything else bc I will want to talk about it and then that will put too much pressure on him I think. We are on our third cycle this month (I should be Oing in a few days) and keeping my fingers crossed. If nothing happens I may look into using OPK's for next month.

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
We were going to take the whatever approach, but when I started looking into some of the approaches used here and started reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility, I decided that some of these small things could make a big difference and are really very simple and stress-free. I also figured since we are really wroking within a time frame, whatever we can do to help things along couldn't hurt!

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
I'm not charting, temping etc...I'm watching CM and trying our best to "do it" on the right days...I'm in the 2WW of my 3rd cycle so we'll see what happens.
If we're still trying at 6 months then I might get more in depth...

We are not TTC yet, but I don't plan on doing this stuff in the beginning...If I see it takes long then I will probably do something...I never even knew before reading this forum that there were so many things involved, it's overwhelming! (But I am glad for all the info I have read here).

same here (except this is only our 2nd month). however, i get impatient very quickly so i will probably "step it up a notch" next month and use OPKs if necessary. i had used FAM to prevent pregnancy for almost a year so i know my cycle pretty well.

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
We got pregnant on our first try and we didn't temp or use ovulation tests.
However, I had been keeping track of my menstrual cycles on mymonthlycycles.com. Many of those tracking websites give you a range of 6 days of high probable fertility. Just have lots of sex in the middle of your cycle.
I actually wanted use ovulation tests but for whatever reason, it really turned off DH to schedule BDing.

See this is the thing. If I end up charting, temping or whatever DH will probably freak and never want to BD. It isnt that he is NOT supportive but I know for a fact that he would NOT like it and I would have to hide the details from him thus adding to my anxiety!

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
right now, no. i just had surgery and the doctor says that i should wait until september to really start TTC (hey if it happens before then, fine!) also, my Gyn. does not think i am ovulating from one side because my cycles are sooo long and there is no rhyme or reason to them. she said charting and temping may not be so helpful to me anyway. i probably will start in a few months and see if i can unravel the mystery on my own!

I was planning to do take the ovulation tests at work without DH knowing. Before TTC, I wanted to get a feel of when I ovulated and tried to buy the Clearblue Digital ovulation tests when we were at Target together and DH actually got mad at me. This caused a whole argument. As soon as I backed off with the whole testing and planning, he came on board and now we are happily pregnant.

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
I decided to be a bit more proactive in ttc - for many reasons.
However, turns out what I initially thought was o time was not, so I am happy that I randomly decided to buy an opk.
do what makes you most comfortable. My DH gets excited for 'smiley face time'

Re: Anyone else NOT doing the whole temp, ovulation kit etc?
We're not officially TTCing until September, but like Jess (davenjess) due to age I want to give it all I got. I've learned so much from the girls here on TTC, so I use fertilityfriend.com, observe CM and will use the CBEFM. I wouldn't have bought the CBEFM on my own but luckily I have a great friend who's loaning it to me. Temping, charting- that will be the last resort if we have trouble. Everyone's different!

I think we'll start off the first few months just seeing what happens (no OPK or temping), if things don't happen by then we'll start monitoring EWCM & using OPKs.

ps- i am addicted to charting i didnt want to stop after BFP!
