which double stroller do you think i better? (poll w/ pics)

i've narrowed it down to 2 strollers:

Baby jogger-city mini

Kolcraft- Contours Options Tandem Double Stroller in Ruby (Seats Easily Reverse to Create to 7 Different Stroller Options. Children Can Both Face Parent, Face Each Other, Face Forward or Back to Back. Can Also Be Used with Only the Front Seat. Infant Car Seat Attachment Fits Most Car Seat Brands.)

everyone i talked to with the city mini loves it. they say it is a smooth ride, isn't heavy and folds easily. the only thing i don't like is i can't use an infant carrier with it.

i don't know anyone with the kolcraft one but i love all the position options and that i can use the carrier with it but it seems like it may be bullky and difficult to put in my civic.

my ds will be 23 months when #2 is born (but not ready for a sit and stand.)

any feedback?

I've heard great things about the mini jogger...I didn't test it out though.

I did test out the Kolcraft in BBB and hated it! It was super bulky, a PITA with the seats coming in and out, the chairs were tiny and the whole thing was just heavy, that was my take on it.

I have the city mini single and LOVE it!!! I know they have a car seat adapter for the single---they should really make one for the double!! I know when I got mine they weren't available yet and BBB recommended the snuzzler pillow thing for a smaller baby instead of using the infant seat

I think my friend has the Kolkcraft one, and she likes it. She snaps her son's infant seat into it, and then puts her daughter in the regular seat. They're 5 months and 20 months old. And then when she watches my DD (16 months), she puts both of the girls in the stroller and carries the baby in a Bjorn and they go for walks-- so it seems very versatile...but I don't have firsthand experience with it though.

I wanted the kilcraft as well, but then I found out that you have to take both seats out before you can fold it up...so I think in a civic, it will take up all your trunk space.

When I was researching doubles, I was intrigued by the flexibility of the Kolcraft, but I read a lot of negative reviews (poor leg room, annoying to fold, etc) and the thing is HUGE.

I seriously considered the city mini - I've only heard great things about that one, but I wasn't crazy about the look, or about not having the infant seat. Of your two choices, I'd definitely go City Mini (especially if you're going to be taking it in and out of the car)

I wound up with the Bumbleride Indie Twin. Its a little more effort to fold than than the City Mini, but I love it.

I'm curious to see what people think of these too. I looked at the Kolcraft and found that if the kids face on another they legs are touching - I watched a few parents try it out - and I put DD in it - so I would never be able to use it face each other (DD will be just under 2 when DC#2 comes).

I love the city jogger but am hesitant b.c you can't use the carrier. Although when I was at BBB recently one of the employees told me and another mother looking at strollers that he heard that in 2009 they will be adding an optional bar so that you can use a seat - but the other mother held a seat up and it looked like it encroached on the other child's seat.

I was in the mall recently and saw a bumblebee double indie and LOVED it. The mom actually took about 10 mins to show my friend and I the stroller. (BBB sells it for less than BRU was and they claim they will take the 20% BB&B coupon). She had a 3 month old (in the car seat) and a 19 month old child - the seats were large, the car seat doesn't extend farther than the seat so the older child was really comfortable. It had a huge basket underneath and she said she had no problems getting in doorways with it.

Also did you look into the sit n stand where it is a double but when you are ready for a sit n stand you can remove the back seat? Someone I know has one and loves it.

So far i was told by other moms of 2 or more, the running side by side strollers seem to work the best.

Definitely the City Mini Jogger. The Kolcraft is heavy and cumbersome.

We did A LOT of research on double strollers. We were originally going to get the Kolcraft one, and then after reading reviews and checking it out, we decided on the citi mini.
The kolcraft one is 50 pounds! The citi mini is little over 20lbs.
The kolcraft is a pain to fold. The citi mini folds so easily, you just pull up on the handles in the front.
The seats on the citi mini recline all the way back, so you can put an infant in it. My friend who just had a baby a month ago is already using it with her newborn and loves it.

I liked the flexibility of the tandem but there were just too many negatives, number one being the weight.

Although ONLY TTC at this point, I looked at the Kolcraft. I love the style, color, the fact that you can change the position of the seats. BUT it is huge, even when folded. You have to remove both seats to fold it. The seats seem small and there is no leg room if both seats face each other. The bit plus is the price. It's about $220 depending where you look and if you have coupons it might be less. I like it a LOT better that the Graco duoglider or quattro.

The only other option I would consider is the Bumbleride twin Indie like others posted. It's a great stroller but it's also about $590. It folds easily and fairly compact. There is good seat room. The only thing is that the older child can touch the infant since it's a side by side.

Of those 2, I would go with the Baby Jogger. Everyone I know with the Kolcraft hates it. My kids are 2 years and 3 weeks apart. I researched double strollers like crazy and I got the Phil & Teds Sport with the Doubles Kit and I have to say I love, love, love it! I can fit anywhere that I could fit with a single stroller and it actually handles even better than my Peg Perego Pliko. My DD sits on the bottom and is always so happy down there. The one thing I don't like about it is that it can't hold a car seat with the doubles seat attached. I wound up getting a Sit and Stand for times when I just need to run in quick and don't want to take DD out of the car seat. If we're going anywhere for more than a few minutes I always use the P&T...DD is much happier in there and I prefer the P&T 1000 times more than the sit and stand. I know you said you don't think your DS is ready for a sit and stand...I thought the same thing and that's why I didn't buy it originally, but my DS does great it in. I can make him sit and buckle him in when I need to.

LOVE my Citi Jogger- lightweight and easy to fold and such a dream to push.

Are you sure you can't use it with an infant seat? You can with the single with a special attachment.

Just to throw one more in the mix for you----I have read online recs for the zooper tango---but I am not sure what stores carry it---it looks nice though!

On the baby jogger city mini double for 2009 you will be able to attach one infant carseat. I have 13 month old twins and just bought the baby jogger a month ago. I love it. such a difference from my tandem stroller. it is light and i can push it with one hand while holding a door open with the other. i think the 2009's will be availabe in november with 2 other colors, brown and tan, black and stone. yes i did a lot of research lol.
