Re: Which has better IF coverage GHI or Empire?

i dont know much about empire but i do have ghi. i was thinking the same thing and asked the women at the re office if i should switch over to Aetna or some other insurances my dh has from work.. she looked over my plans and told me to stick with ghi bc if i do need ivf it will cover more (about 75 or 85% i dont remember)
I would ask the office u go to and see what ur out of pocket expenses would be if u were going for ivf or iui...
sorry couldnt help u out more

I don't have either plans but I wanted to tell you that you have to look at the specifics for each plan to know which is best. It is up to your "employer" to pick the coverage you receive under each plan.

So one could have better coverage on GHI then Empire then you or vice versa. We found that calling the insurance companies & get all the specifics was the best option.

Exactly!

I have a friend that has the same insurance carrier as I do, and while I have full IF coverage (3 IVF cycles), she only has diagnostic testing.

I have Empire gov't employee. If I go to what they call a "Center of Excellence", I pay nothing. I know LIIVF is one of those "centers" and possibly cornell. I get $50K lifetime for IVF. Each IVF ends up taking about $7-8K from that pool. The monitoring, meds, and some other things come out of regular insurance. It's amazing.

My DH is a gov't employee, and we have Empire with all of the above benefits as well. Cornell is one of their "Centers of Excellence;" it's where we go.

Check each plan's benefits - the definitely vary by company.

I just called Empire and where I work diagnosis and IUI are the ONLY things covered! If I wanted IVF that would NOT be covered...so that solves that! Thank God I called
