Which Menu Would You Choose for a Birthday Party Being Held on 12/26?

Thankfully, I found a new place. It's a beautiful historic chapel. Sigh.

There will be about 30 adults and 15 kids ranging in age from 4 months to 6 years old with the majority in the 2-4 year range.

Now the food. I have wto options to go for:
Option 1:
Platter of Cold Cut Wraps
Platter of "fancier" wraps" (eggplant, chicken cutlet etc)
1/2 tray Eggplant Rollatini
Tray of Fried Chicken
1/2 Tray of mini quiche
Tray of Baked Ziti

Option 2 costs about 50-60 dollars more (it's a per person deal)...
Potato Croquettes
baked Shells
Eggplant Rollatini
Sausage and Peppers
Penne al la Vodka

The place for option has many options--I can get rice balls or croquettes at a nominal fee.

Which would you like better the day after Christmas?

Re: Which Menu Would You Choose for a Birthday Party Being Held on 12/26?

I voted option 2 because I generally like sandwiches or hot food, not both together.

But, since it is the day after Christmas, and people have eaten so much int he days before the party, some people might just like a wrap or something lighter.

I have been no help at all, have I? Chat Icon

I went with option 1 because of the wraps.

1/3 of your guests are kids and the cold cut wraps may be a hit, as well as the fried chicken and baked ziti.

The adults will eat anything and I think choosing pasta vs sandwiches is a good idea the day after christmas.

I like #1 b/c most people will probably have eaten a lot b/w Christmas Eve and Christmas Day - so I'd go for the lighter fare...

I voted #1. Twice I've had wraps (ordinary and fancy) at my DDs' parties and I can't tell you how many compliments I got on them.

I also picked #1, it sounds like a lighter meal. For those that are coming and celebrate Christmas, they probably won't want a heavy meal (I know I don't like to eat a lot after Thanksgiving or Christmas).

what time of day is your party?
If it is a daytime then I would go option 1
if it is evening, then option 2.

Re: Which Menu Would You Choose for a Birthday Party Being Held on 12/26?

you cant lose with either menu!
option 1 has both hot and cold items, so that is nice! the only thing i didnt liek about option 1 was the fried chicken. could you sub it for chicken fingers? fried chicken is one of those messy things to eat.. enjoyable but messy and awkward to eat in front of people.

of course option 2 has all my favs!

its really a matter of spending the extra money or not.
if it's only an extra $50, then go for option 2. but otherwise option 1 has a great menu!!

You and your guests will likely be eating many of the options on #2's menu for the holidays....I would love to have something lighter and different after 2 big holiday meals....
