which public pool?

i am off on wednesdays until september and i would love to take DS to a pool for the first time!

but we are also trying to save $$ because we are buying a house.

we live in south shore nassau but are willing to travel a bit.

any recommendations for a nice, clean, not too expensive public pool?

Re: which public pool?

Thank you for posting this. I'm curious too about this. I live probably not far from you and but can't go too far b/c I'm 7 weeks away from having my second baby. I'd love to take DD to a public pool in July before I have the baby. I was just telling DH about the things I'd like to do during the day with DD after I'm no longer working.

Re: which public pool?

Wantagh pool is nice bc they have the sprinkler pool for the kids BUT everytime I've gone there, those huge green horseflies that bite are very active. I think it's bc it's so close to the water. Marjorie Post in Massapequa is a nice pool too. Bethpage also.

As a kid, I always went to Oceanside Pool. Now I take my kids to Syosset-Woodbury. You need to be a Town resident for most pools. What about Marjorie Post in Massapequa?

Re: which public pool?

I have only been to the Bethpage pool and it was nice and clean - just a lot of concrete! The Plainview one is supposed to be nice too and there are more trees/grass around.

We grew up going to the Bethpage pool too and once in a while hopped over to Syosset which was really nice as well.

Re: which public pool?

Do they have a kiddie pool? Lynbrook has a beautiful kiddie pool and sprinkler area but you have to be a town resident.

we are in seaford right now, but we will be moving to levittown for 2 months before making the big move to kings park in september Chat Icon if you want to GTG at a local pool let me know!

I'm also in TOH, Garden city/West Hempstead area... I asked DH about Echo Park pool, he used to bring his nephew there as a baby - there's a kiddy pool there. I may give it a try. I would love to GTG, it would be fun and I know the little one's would love pool time.

Re: which public pool?

I grew up in Seaford, we had a pool in the backyard but we also went to:
Forest Hill in Wantagh.
Echo park in W. Hempstead
Cantiaque (sp?) in Hicksville
I would think Wantagh Park pool is close and a nice one, not sure out of towners pay.
You also have Eisenhower Park pool...I don't know if they have a baby pool or swim program.
I live in suffolk south shore and going to take DD, who turns one next week, to swim lessons for the summer. It is $45. from 7/13-8/15 (I think)
Good luck and have fun!!!

Consider you and Luca (and DH if he wishes) to have an open invitation here. Tell me when you are free and I'll get the blender ready for some Daiquiris! Chat Icon

The family pool pass for TOH residents is $207 this year. You can use the Forest City, Newbridge Rd and a few others with that pass. They have free swim lessons for 4&5 year olds.
