My DD hates to eat her veggies (stage 2).
She really only LIKES:
-sweet potatoes

HATES:
-Peas
-Carrots
-Squash

We are trying corn tomorrow.

HOw about your DC?

ETA: Ive tried mixing fruit w/veggie.. yea she's not that stupid. She'll eat a bite or two and figure it out LOL.

Re: Which Veggies were a hit/miss?

My DD is the opposite. most of the fruits she hates becausse they are too sweet.

as for the veggies- DD loves(in this order):
squash
sweet potatoes
mixed vegtables
sweet potaties with corn
sweet potatoes with turkey
peas
carrots

and her least favorite is green beans.

In order to get my DD to eat the fruits we had to mix them with veggies. Maybe you could try mixing half fruit. half veggie and she might like the taste better.

Re: Which Veggies were a hit/miss?

just saw your ETA...Why not just give her the veggies she likes.

With my older DD she hated veggies but for some strange reason she loved the mixed veggie ones so thats all we gave her. Or the meal ones, since they have a little of everything.

Re: Which Veggies were a hit/miss?

When we first started she ate EVERYTHING.
We started with veggies and did green veges first, then yellow/orange, then fruits.

But once she got a taste of that fruit, it was over.

She now refuses green beens and peas, and is hit or miss with even Sweet potatoes, and carrots.

I have to buy the stage 2 blends to ge her to eat veggies- like the Sweet Potato/Apple one (because it tastes only like apple) or the Squash/Apple/Grains one.

She'll also eat the Yo Baby 3 in 1 meals

DD does not like anything green - no string beans or peas and they also give her bad painful gas.
she loves and does well with sweet potatoes and squash.
she also trouble digesting carrots. they usually make her constipated.

Re: Which Veggies were a hit/miss?

honestly at that age its more about texture than taste. Mix it with something that they like, like applesauce or potato, and gradually take away what they like to get them used to the texture.

I did this with DS, he used to hate spinach, peas, string beans, avocado, you name it, he hated almost any green thing. Now eats them all as finger food!

Re: Which Veggies were a hit/miss?

He LOVES sweet potatoes.

The others he will tolerate if I blend them with the fruit. Peas are the hardest for me to get him to eat even with the mixed in fruit.

I second this. We never did jarred but I know the Green Beans were a BIG no for her back then. Later when she understood textures we tried it again.

She loves those green beans and will eat them for dinner by itself.

DS only had carrots 1 time...after cleaning a large mess and a dirty kid when we were out to dinner, I decided he didn't NEED carrots. {thought I grabbed sweet potatoes}

The thing is stage 2, as far as I can tell, its all the same texture. Like peas and carrots have the same consistency to me... maybe im not looking close enough, idk.

texture in terms of the tiny fibers in the food, its really different if your sensitive to it. taste it your self! Babies are so sensitive to this, stage 2 applesuace is very different feeling in the mouth than stage 2 peas

Re: Which Veggies were a hit/miss?

maybe try some beets? they're pretty sweet and puree pretty smoothly, esp as compared to peas or even sweet potatoes, which are a little thick feeling on the tongue - beets are pretty watery, but will make poop turn very dark so don't be alarmed.

my dd really only rejected peas and green beans in puree form - she likes them just fine now as finger food. she liked spinach mixed in with cereal - not so much straight on - i could tell she liked the taste but now the texture - too stringy - and now that we're off purees, she absolutely loves dr. praeger's spinach cakes. spinach, carrots, and sweet potatoes are probably her favorites, but she'll eat just about anything.

Should I keep trying/insisting or just let her eat only what she wants (which will be fruit and sweet potatoes only.)??

Re: Which Veggies were a hit/miss?

Thank God DD has not given me problems with any food. We are starting stage 2 now so we'll see... Maybe it is the texture. I always mix 1-2 tbs of rice with her meals so it's more of a loose paste which is easier for her to keep in her mouth. Also, and I don't think there's any science to back me up, I always act super happy when giving her the first spoons of the meal and I think it might get her into positive thinking lol don't laugh, I think it has helped Chat Icon

If DS gives me trouble...I try it again during a different hour of the day: he's eaten pretty much everything. Honestly, it all tastes REALLY sweet to me.
