Which winery is best to bring a picnic lunch to?
Going Sunday and we are going to pack a basket of food to eat there. Which place allows this and would be a good choice?

We were at Osprey's Dominion yesterday and it was great. They have tons of picnic tables with umbrellas outside. They even have a separate area with a few grills you can use. We've also brought food into Palmer and had a great time there.

It depends on if it's just a date trip or if you are bringing kids... Osprey great for laid back, kids, even just a couple, or a bunch of friends. Borghese has a much smaller picnic area but very nice. Duck walk is also good... As is Corey creek, very nice areA there. For a more romantic feel, bedel is very nice.

Then I would say Bedell or Corey Creek. They aren't so family friendly and they are good spots to hang with the girls

Re: Which winery is best to bring a picnic lunch to?
We ended up at Pindar last time with food because many of them don't let you bring food in. Martha Clara definitely does not.
I also liked the vibe a little more at Pindar.
Martha Clara seems really big and touristy to me....

Laurel Lake, Roanoke, Osprey's Dominion. I find Martha Clara, Duck Walk and Pindar too commercial.

Baiting Hollow. We just did this for Father's Day and had a great time. They have a horse rescue, and it's fun for the kids to see the horses. They also have live music in the afternoons. It does get crowded though.
ETA: Just saw your post that it's kid-free - awesome!

Baiting Hollow only has certain areas where you can bring food, only the uncovered tables and they fill up quickly!

We got there at 12:30 on Father's Day and had a lot of tables to choose from. Only a few were taken. By 1:30-2:00 it was packed!

agreed. I'm trying to remember if Leib will let you bring outside food in, I don't recall if we tried, but that's another really beautiful spot.

There were a few well behaved dogs at Osprey this weekend. Not sure which others would be okay with it.

Martha Clara
You can't bring your own food to Martha Clara anymore. They started selling their own. IMO that cost them a lot of business, but who knows.
