Which would you choose -- Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, or Beach Club?
Contemporary would be our first choice but the only room they have available is in the Garden Wing and I heard its a looong walk to the main bldg. love the idea of the. Monorail/walking to MK. Beach Club would be next because we can walk to Epcot and HS and boardwalk. Wilderness Lodge is cheapest of the 3 and the boat to MK looks great but we arent in love w the whole woodsy theme lol plus the other 2 have more restaurant options.
Which would you choose?

I stayed at the Contemporary on my last trip and I loved it! Loved that the monorail was right there and Chef Mickey's of course! Would stay there again!

Garden Wings are a HIKE to the lobby. I did it once years ago, never again.
I would choose WL out of the 3.

Of your 3 choices, I would probably pick Wilderness Lodge. We just got back from staying there and we loved the easy boat ride to MK. The monorail was down when we stayed at Polynesian last time and it was down again during our trip last week. I felt the boat was very reliable and it was a boat only for wilderness lodge.
That being said, we will probably stay on the boardwalk next. I like to try new experiences though. with young kids, you can't beat easy access to MK.

I loved the Wilderness Lodge! Loved the boat to the MK. I loved the Yacht Club also (connected to Beach Club), their pool area is AMAZING! and I love that you can walk to Epcot and HS or take the boat. The boardwalk area is nice also. The bus is a pain to the MK though.

Everyone is telling you WL but based how you worded your post it doesn't sound right for you. If the theming doesn't do it for you and you are looking for variety in restaurants I would consider another resort. Whispering Canyon Cafe doesn't have a very big menu and the other sit down there is very nice but also not a big menu and it's expensive as well.
You also have to consider which parks you are going to spend the most time at. If you are doing mainly MK, you might reconsider because the boat access to MK is supposed to be wonderful. Everyone raves about WL but think about your specific needs.
Beach Club is great - can walk to 2 parks, tons of restaurants nearby between the 4 other nearby resorts and Epcot itself. I love that area surrounding the lake. We stayed at Boardwalk recently and I did NOT want to come home.

I agree that the eating options are quite limited at Wilderness Lodge. We ate at Whispering Cafe and wasn't really impressed. We drove next door to Polynesian 3x for meals. I am obsessed with pineapple dole whip. Our kids and I absolutely love it and kept wanting to go back for more.
I personally am not into the whole lodge theming myself but I booked it for my boys. They really enjoyed the theming even though that is not my thing. They thought they were "camping" even though we were still at a resort. There are quite a bit of animals roaming around. I'm assuming the animals are strategically placed to go with the theming.
There is also a boat that takes you to ft wilderness and contemporary.

I love the Boardwalk area. The Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club are all great resorts. DH and I spend most of our time in Epcot so we love walking to the park. The walk to HS is longer but still doable.
The bus service to MK and AK from the Boardwalk area isn't so great though. The buses share the route with Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Club, Dolphin and Swan. They are always crowded.

Is it difficult to walk to epcot and jump on the monorail to MK?
I'm pretty sure we will be booking beach or yacht club the next time we go to Disney. DH and I love the cape cod feel.
When we stayed at poly last time, we would transfer at MK to epcot almost daily because it was so easy.

In theory you can do it, and we have done it several times. The Epcot resort entrance is over between France and Great Brittan. You have to walk through the international gateway to the front of Epcot and then up to the monorail. Then you take the monorail to the TTC and then transfer to either a resort monorail or an express monorail. It's not a bad walk, but it does take much longer than the buses. Also, since all of the parks stagger their opening/closing times, you can't count on it for the way back. Most times, Epcot closes before MK.

Which parks do you plan on spending the most time at? I just stayed at Beach Club and it was amazing. I loved the easy access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. On several occassions we walked through Epcot to enjoy ourselves and wound up hopping on a monorail to Magic Kingdom.
If you plan on spending most of your time at Magic Kingdom, then the Contemporary might be a good fit for you. The Garden Wing is a bit of a hike, I've stayed there as well.

I spent a lot of time debating this myself... In the end I choose the Wilderness Lodge.

Unless I had a baby who needed the monorail, I would go with the beach club! We love it. So much fun, and just a walk to Epcot. We had no problem with the bus sevice, except to downtown disney which was insane.

We stayed at the Contemporary in the Garden building. It was a walk to the lobby but not THAT long. Worth saving some money and having the monorail right there.
