Which would you do?
DH got a job offer but we cant decide. Any input would be nice.
CURRENT JOB Hours 9 - 530 plus Overtime (not paid for) Fully paid medical No retirement Very flexible with days/time off Been there 1 1/2 yrs Last year's raise was very small This year they are not getting raises due to insurance increases Since he started there 2 people under him left and he has had to do their jobs with no additional compensation Promises of year end bonus 2 years in a row and nothing has been given
NEW OFFER Hours 8-430 no OT Have to pay for medical, which I would take mine since mine is better matching 401k up to 5% 7,500 more a year no vacation time till he is there 1 year in offer letter they put will give salary review in 6 mths
both are good options....any input???? what would you do?

Take the new job.
No OT 401K
I am not sure I understand the medical health insurance part.
at his last job we didn't have to pay a penny.
at this job he would have to pay $75 a week. Since mine insurance is better through my job (about 45 every 2 weeks) we are going to take my insurance.

Re: Which would you do?
I would say go for the new one. Seems like there may be a better opportunity to make more money down the road (reviews etc).

New job ...from the details you posted.
Maybe he can negotiate that he starts in a few weeks and he can take some time off.

Re: Which would you do?
Definitely new job.
I would have fought for the salary review after six months because the last time I got a new job (my current one) I wanted that and didn't get it. I still kick myself on that!

Re: Which would you do?
I think the new one has more long-term potential. At this stage in the game it's important to have retirement, and unpaid OT suxx

Re: Which would you do?
So the second job pays more, but health insurance will need to be paid 100% by you and your DH? Is it a family plan, etc.?
$7,500 after taxes might equate to something similar, if not less, to what you will pay out of pocket for health insurance, so you really need to take that into consideration.

New job from the info you posted.
Is there a different is commute?
5 min straight run - slim chance of traffic at the new job
15-25 depending on Wellwood/110 traffic at the old job

Re: Which would you do?
Thanks everyone. He put his 2 weeks notice in yesterday at his job and they said they would like to counteroffer.
DH said he will consider it, but will probably stick with the new job.

Definitely the new job! Unless he is really attached to his current one or sees the potential for upward mobility...
