Who diagnosed your child, a phycologist or developmental pediatrician?

I had my dc evaluated by a phycologist and he dx dc with pdd (borderline or mild pdd) I that day made an appt. with a well know devel. ped for a 2nd opinion. I recently cancelled the appt due to accepting what the phycologist said and having dc receive services asap.

But would like in the future for dc to ge re-evaluated possibly a year from now. I'm wondering if i should have a phycologist do so or dev. ped. What are your thoughts between the two? And, who diagnosed your child?

DS #3 was severely delayed since I can remember. He had 2 physiological's done between 20 months and 2 1/2 both were on the fence and put him severely delayed. At 3 we met a Dev. Pedi and was then dx with Autism. His case was different though because he was so delayed (and still is at 7) he did not have any autistic characteristics until 3, then started the flapping, sounds,-etc.,
DS#4 was dx by a psychologist at 23 months with PDD NOS. He was so nice though and told me he'd rather over diagnosis him at this point (because of the family history and he was speech delayed and had some minor quirks) He's now 3 and I'm so glad he got the dx. He speaks beyond his age and his progressing daily.

DS was evaluated through EI by a diagnostic psych evaluation.

we did not see a dev ped.

official "classic autism" diagnosis at 18 months old

we also had him tested through Hofstra's special ed department. (same exact DX was given)

We didn't see a developmental pediatrician either. DD was diagnosed by a neuropsychologist and the district psychologist. We sought out a neuropsychologist at the recommendation of our pediatrician. She received a diagnosis of PDD-NOS and we were encouraged to go through the district evals for services.

DS was diagnosed by school psychologist when transitioning from EI to Pre-K.
He has PDD-NOS.

DD was diagnosed with PDD by the pyschologist from EI. I got a second opinion at LIJ with a dev. ped because there were a lot of discrepencies in DD's reports from the other evaluators, including the psychologist. The dev. ped agreed with me about the descrepancies, but after evaluating DD, she agreed with the original diagnosis.

DS started speech ata 15 months. Due to my concerns (and finally ped's) I book appt. for dev. ped. i didnt want to wait the insane wait time for appt so had him evaled through EI psychologist. Received mild/borderline PDD-NOS diagnosis. Dev. Ped appt. finally came and I took him (for confirmation/2nd opinion purposes). The experience was horrific and should have just shoved pins in my eyes I will see what the school psy says once he ages out of EI.

Diagnosed by psychologist through EI at 18 months. Never went to any other develop. PED or neurologist.

DS has classic austism. There is no question/doubt at this point. I will not subject him to more testing than I have to.

DS was diagnosed by a psychologist. We did see a developmental neurologist, mostly because I wanted to see if there were any other medical issues speech, OT, etc. would not help with. At the time, there were none. I thought the school testing was much more extensive and relevant since it was done at his school, and they could see how he interacts with peers and groups. One-on-one with an adult, he's generally fine.

We are going back to the neurologist, mainly because I see tics increasing, and I want her to look into Tourette's or other disorders like this. But overall, I really liked our psychologist and thought the testing was thorough.

A pediatric neurologist and then a child psychiatrist diagnosed SD with ADHD.
