Who do you address wedding checks to???

So do you address weddings checks as the new couple "Mr. & Mrs. _______" or just put the name of the person you are closest to....in my case the bride (she is a friend of mine).

I cant remember how people addressed it at my wedding and I havent gone to a wedding in like 5 years.

FYI: I dont have cash and I will not put a million 20s from the ATM in the envelope.

The person I know. So if it's the bride, I put her name.

I don't put Mr and Mrs. Most couples don't have a bank account together just yet and they would have to be both present to deposit the check. NOT practical for them!

I always write Mr. and Mrs. At my wedding, it wasn't a problem and we opened a checking account together for this purpose (in my maiden name and then transferred it to my married name). I still get checks in my maiden name that I just write in my maiden and married names. I NEVER write cash b/c I had a friend who either lost or had some envelopes stolen and the ones that were written to cash were...cashed.

I write it to the person I know so there won't be any problem for the couple to deposit the check. I know most of the time it's not a problem to write mr & mrs but I don't always know if the bride is changing her name and her maiden name is still the legal name on the account.

I endorsed checks like this with my maiden and married name, and brought a copy of my marriage license with me to the bank... No problems.

I write it out to the person I know. When I tried depositing my wedding gifts that were made out to Mr & Mrs, it was a pain since I was planning on keeping my maiden name until we had kids.

Cash - just makes iteasier depending on what they do with their names.

I write it out to the person I know.

I didn't change my name and it irritated me to get checks written out to "Mr & Mrs".

I write cash. It makes life easier when depositing it in the bank

Cash or to one person. When both names are written, I believe both people have to sign the check...

I make it out to whomever I am closer to: groom or bride with maiden name.

I usually write it to Mary Smith or Billy Brown. This way, if they don't have a joint account, either person can cash it. I use the maiden name of the woman so that there are no issues with having to wait for it to be cashed.

The person we know, but we try to do cash since when we got married this was such a pain in the asss for us. My bank was just horrible about this since I had no proof of my married name yet Plus in this day I find it rude to expect the women is changing her name and or they want to deal with cashing my check to Mr. and Mrs. It's just a personal thing and like I said because my bank was HORRIBLE about this

That is how all our checks were made out to us (18 years ago).

If you want to make it as convenient as possible for the couple, make it out to cash.

I always do the groom so there is no problems with accounts or name changes.

The only thing with writing it out to Cash is that if, god forbid, someone else was to get their hands on the card they could easily cash it for themselves. Obviously if it's written out to someone they wouldn't be able to. I know it's a far fetched idea but you never know...
