Who do you get advice from when buying/selling homes
OK so here's the deal... we have decided we are going to move off Long Island.. we are not happy with the schools where we live, it's tooooo expensive (Southampton) and my husbands work requires traveling and being on Long Island just doesn't work well.. so far it looks like we're moving up to Saratoga Springs. we have an investment home that is currently rented that we are going to sell as well as our primary home.. we are going to use the equity in both homes as a down payment as well as pay off any debt from the business... we have a business we recently closed (it is still doing some business in order to pay off the debt it incurred) my question is... do we go to a financial advisor, an accountant, or someone else..... or are we better off just doing this on our own.... it's just a lot to take on and I'm not sure the best way to do it all!

The best advice I can give is make sure you sell before you buy something new so as not to take on extra debt without knowing how long it will take to sell your homes, maybe list and sell the one upstate first since it might take longer to sell, or if you can sell the long island one first and move into the rental house until you can sell that and buy something else.

I would speak to your accountant and he/she might know of a financial advisor and then they can work together for figure out what is best for you and the company.

ITA! call your accountant, that already knows you. He/She can give you advisor to contact, or can steer you in the right direction. GL with the move!

There are plenty of EXCELLENT financial and housing blogs you can read to get a wealth of free information. I love reading these.
Just do a google search and you should find some good ones.
