Who grinds their teeth at night? Questions...
My DH says I do sometimes (it's almost like i'm chewing in my sleep).
I'm more concerned about the pressure I put on my teeth. I wake up every morning (for the last month or so) and my mouth is closed and my tongue is suctioned to the roof of my mouth and putting so much pressure on my top front teeth. I wake up with my teeth pounding and later on in the day I get a headache.
Is this from grinding my teeth? Why did I start with the tongue thing???
Anyone else get this... do I need a mouth guard or something?

I grind my teeth and have tmj from it. I would get a mouthguard.

My husband grinds his teeth quite a bit, its an awful noise and it sounds painful
You can get a mouth guard, I would speak to your dentist and they should be able to refer you or help you, the mouth guard would just be for evening not during the day

I don't know if I grind but I definitely clench my teeth at night. I always wake up with my jaw clenched tight and have to tell myself to relax it.
I actually had to have a tooth pulled last year because it cracked all the way up to the root- and I swear it is from the constant clenching.
I am thinking of getting a night guard.

i've done this since i was a baby. i wake up every morning and my jaw is sore. my top gums are also receded a bit from doing this
i don't think you can prevent the behavior, but you can protect your teeth from damage. get a night guard- it's a mouthguard they sell in drug stores and it protects your teeth

Yea, maybe it's clenching. I feel like i'm most comfortable with my mouth closed and my tongue pressing against the roof of my mouth when i'm trying to fall asleep.
I've been trying to be conscious of it lately so I try to keep my mouth open, but I wake up in the morning and I have so much pressure in my mouth.

See your dentist about having a mouth guard made. I wear one at night; I grind and probably have for years....but since we got married DH told me I wake him up doing this. I have no soreness or bleeding, but when I woke up I can tell my teeth are clenched. A guard won't stop you from doing it (although some can; ask your doctor) but it will protect your teeth.
I had some bonding put on one tooth that I actually had thinned down from years of doing it. You can ruin your teeth if you're not careful....my guard was like $300...and it's a smelly piece of plastic (well, it's not smelly if you clean it often!) that is now totally scratched (but not ripped, thank god) at the top--proof that I do it!

I do the same thing and I had to get a mouth guard. My dentist said it was caused by stress and the while the mouth guard didn't alleviate the stress, it did protect my teeth from any other damage.

i totally agree.
i am a grinder. my teeth feel clenched and noticed that i get severe migraines from it. i have a mouthguard from the dentist. also i had my teeth bonded or sprayed with a thin layer of something because i am wearing them down.
i also noticed that i can't watch anything disturbing or the news before i go to bed because it effects my teeth and makes me grind more.

Yep! I wore down my pointer on the left side...I just had the point put back on! Not like you could notice it...but I did, and it was damage. Get a guard!

I clench my teeth together at night...I sleep with a mouth guard, has def helped with my TMJ...def talk to your dentist about it!

I apparently have done but wasn't aware that I did it until I did it & cracked one of my porcelian caps....  so I was just fitted for a night guard but haven't gotten it yet. Luckily the guard will only cost me about $70

I was grinding after I got my veneers and got a mouth guard that I would find on the floor in the morning. I haven't used it in a few years now.
