Yup, best invention ever! We used white noise with both kids. Sarah was weaned off it around 1.5 years old, Andy's still on, we'll probably wean him off closer to 2.

Sarah had colic. So crying hysterically for HOURS on end every day. Within a few mintues of turning it on she was knocked out. I think I honestly cried I was so freakin' happy.

We have one that we have used from birth...its a radio tuned in between stations. Its fantastic. I am tempted to buy a proper machine, but the radio works so well!!

Re: Who has a white noise machine
Do you feed him solids at night?? If you do what about making it earlier or only twice a day, morning and afternoon. The cereal and fruit/veggie might be sitting in his tummy and bothering him. Also if you have a humidifier you can try that until you get the white noise machine. It stinks when they sleep through the night and then start getting up again. But it happens still with Luka every few months and he is 19 months.

I hear you! ds woke up at 2am, 4am, 5am and then 6:45am... honestly, I have no idea why during the day, I put him in a swing and turn on portable vacuum cleaner (like the one you use in the car) and he falls asleep that way, at least he naps for a bit and I can get some things done around the apartment...

Re: Who has a white noise machine
is he waking up and staying up or just fussing?
Since we stopped the miracle blanket two weeks ago there is a definate change in DS's sleeping patterns. I gets up multiple times each night but so far I've never had to pick him up. He goes back to sleep with his paci (sometimes I have to stay with him and rub his belly and face and other times I keep having to go in his room because he spit the darn thing out). Let me know if this works. I can't say that I'm feeling any more sleep deprived than normal because of it because it happens really in 5-10 minute spurts but if I cold make it stop I'd be a very very happy mommy!!!! And might probably resent my DH less because he sleeps right through it
Good luck!!! And hoping you get some sleep too!!!

Re: Who has a white noise machine
The last two nights he has been waking and crying hysterically. He is teething, has a cold, and bananas seem to not agree with him (he kept spitting them out)
Before that - he would go down anywhere between 7-8pm and sleep until at least 4:30am - then I would pick him up and put him in bed with us. I thought that was bad -- but the last two nights have been a whole different ball game. In bed with me all night long - and screaming all night.
UGH - the little monster just woke up from his nap right now.

Re: Who has a white noise machine
That's what we did for Sarah. My dad thought it was rediculous and got Andy a clock radio with white noise from The Sharper Image.

We have one. BRU sells it. I think its by DEX. It has several different types of sounds. My DD favorite is the ocean. She sleeps so peacefully with it on.

Re: Who has a white noise machine
My DH and I sleep with one on every night!!!! Ours is in our alarm clock....DS sleeps in our room and is a pretty good sleeper..so maybe that has something to do with it.
