Who has read Ferber's Book

And, did it help you?

I read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child and that has helped me tremendously with Jack. BUT - I think I still need a little more help.

I was thinking of reading "Solve your child's sleep problems" -

Would you recommend it?

Is there another book you would recommend?

highly highly recommend it!!! I tell everyone that it saved us!! DD had to be re trained to sleep through the night (she started waking at 12 mths and wound up in our bed every night at 3 AM) - - I read that book....and 2 weeks later she was sleeping through the night....and also sleeping 2 hrs longer in the AM! definately worth reading. I got it out at the library.

Good idea about going to the library. My house is filled with sleep books - my cleaning people must think I am obsessed with it! Chat Icon

I may also get the Baby Whisperer one. Does anyone have any feedback on that?

Thanks - I actually just bought it. After this one I'll go get the Baby Whisperer. Even if I take a little from each book - it can't hurt!

Can you tell I'm obsessed with getting sleep?! Chat Icon

Listen, I totally hear you! When Ava stopped sleeping through the night at 8 months, I was like, "Oh, HELL NO!" And the Ferber book was just so amazing. Two nights later, she was back to sleeping the night. The reason I love it is because it's SO much more than having them CIO. It's all about sleep associations and bedtime routines, etc.

That's what I was going to suggest. Read a bunch and see which methods work for you.

Also, don't take every book word for word. Every baby is different and no baby follows a book, so just keep in mind Jack's temperment and personality while reading and decide which would be best for him and you.

Re: Who has read Ferber's Book

I really like Ferber's book. Before I read it I had misconceptions about Ferber and his methods. I thought it was all CIO. It's really not. I used the Ferber method, tailored to fit my family, and never let Christopher cry for more than 5 minutes at a time.
