Who is making corned beef and cabbage?
My friend gave me an awesome corned beef recipe last year so I'm using that from here on out. It is superb. This year I roasted the cabbage. Looks so yummy. Can't wait for lunch tomorrow!

Michelle, that sounds good!!! Never heard of roasting cabbage. I love cabbage!!! Maybe I'll make that tomorrow!!!  Mary

DW bought a LOT of corned beef. We've had it several nights already. (4 slabs, several pounds each...) She does a blanching/quick boil of the cabbage. It's still a very bright green, but just tenderized.
I can't stand grey cabbage... 
Before I met DW, cabbage was my least favorite veg by far. My gag reflex would try and kick in when I was in the same room as it. Now that I'm with her, and she knows how to cook it "properly", I love it! 
Alton Brown had a big segment on one of his shows about what happens when cabbage is cooked too long, and the cell walls break down and release all sorts of chemicals into the water and the air, and that's what makes the pungent aroma and the grey color.

Were having Corned Beef, Cabbage, Boiled potatoes & carrots. Also Fresh Deli sliced Rye bread on the side! I can't wait for dinner tonight!!

i am! i use the slow cooker, but no cabbage just potatoes and carrots....just not a fan of cabbage.

I made it earlier this week. I no longer put the cabbage in the slow cooker, instead I cut it up and cook it stove-top with oil, onion and a smat of fake butter.
For the corned beef, I just use a can of Guinness and seasoning packet... and voila! So good!

Sorry I didn't see this until now, but it's very easy.
I like to remove the majority of the fat on the beef so I do. After that I pat it down to remove some moisture. Then I rub it down all over with brown sugar. Once it's covered, place in the crockpot and pour 1 can or Guinness over and cook on low for 6-6.5 hours.
