Re: Who on here is a teacher?
I am a speech therapist in a school....we are hoping for the summer - or early fall. I am hesitant to put a time on it though. I am trying to take the approach of when it will be it will be. I tend to plan whole lot in my life..this is one thing me and my husband want to realx and enjoy ... however, that being said, a summer pregnancy would be real nice :)

Re: Who on here is a teacher?
I started trying last September in hopes of having a summer baby. Now we're almost in July and just hoping to get pregnant at any time!
Timing it works for some people (God bless them!) but unfortunately that wasn't the case for us.

Re: Who on here is a teacher?
I am! I didn't really try for a particular time of year. I just wanted a baby. But I loved having DS in September b/c I took the entire year off.
I hope to start TTCing again soon but would like at least one year of working in before that. I want to take 2 years off with the next one.

I am an Asst. Principal to be honest, lots of girls in my school had babies in April - June and they honestly regret it They didnt use too many days, but they had no summer either
they said they would have preferred having the baby in Feb or March - taking 2 months or so off and then also having the summer
Im due in January so it doesnt matter LOL
How would having a baby in April-June mean that you would have no summer??

Re: Who on here is a teacher?
Honestly, once you have been trying for a few months and it isnt working...you stop thinking about school and just want to get pregnant ASAP no matter WHEN you are due.
I am due in January... I teach English and I think I am due the day of the ELA exam...OH WELL!!!!
I will be out when I need to be and the kids will survive without me!
I plan on taking off until maybe april/ early may and then returning for two months so I still get my summer pay etc.

Re: Who on here is a teacher?
i'm a teacher too.... but i will get pregnant when i get pregnant. i am not sure it will be so easy for me and i just want to start already.
Ideally, in my school, as long as you show up in september, you can give birth in september or october and take the rest of the year, plus all of the next year (provided you can afford living on the one salary, which we may not be able to do).
if i cant do that, i would love to deliver in february or march, use my 12 weeks and then still have the rest of the summer with the baby and come back in september.

I think she probably means you can't enjoy the summer with a newborn. To which I must politely disagree.
My DD was born June of last year and I LOOOOOVED having a summer baby- the days are longer and the dreaded nights are shorter. We spent SO much time outside (nothing like that fresh air to knock her out!). It was nice having those 2 months off before school started up.
I would have LOVED to have another late spring/early summer baby, but I wanted my kids close together so waiting until the following fall to try again was not an option.
