who planned your baby shower?
and when should they start planning it?
I'm only 10 weeks now, so i feel like its kind of early to ask this question, but i'm just curious what the 'norm' is?

We had it when I was 27 weeks (almost 28) and we starting planning it when I was about 18-20 weeks

i remember my moms were always surprises.
i feel like id like to be included a bit in the planning on mine.
none of my friends have babies so im sure none of them would plan mine. if anyone did it would be my mom. we'll probably end up doing it together.
and then i dont know if i should do it on the island or brooklyn. if we do it in brooklyn we need to rent a place out. i have no idea where it would be in brooklyn. i wouldnt even know where to start.
but my home is here and all my friends are here.... it would be easier to find a venue on LI but annoying to ask 75-90% of the guests to go out.
sorry off on a tangent.
maybe the planning should START around 6 months?

my mom is not very hands on, didn't help with my bridal shower, or either of my sisters showers......so my shower will most likely be handled by my sister probably with some help from my best friend.
is it terrible of me that I want to request the restaurant where they have it?  it's not too expensive and its really close to my house.....I guess I can only wait and see if they take me up on my suggestion!
ETA- I'm thinking my shower will be June or July, so I would imagine they'd start planning around March or so.

my closest friends and my mom. even before i was pregnant - 2 of my friends told me point blank - when you are pregnant - WE are planning your shower...and they kept their word...
at the moment - i believe there are 5 or 6 of them plus my mom involved...
for me - i believe it will be some time in march... the reasoning is because my friends who HAVE kids said it's best to have the shower with enough time to buy anything that you will need and NOT get...and if it's some BIG stuff - that you can save to get it...(that made sense to me)..

My sisters, SIL & mom. They pushed it to 36 weeks because of their scheduling conflicts. Unfortunately, ds had other ideas & I had him at 34 weeks.
During that 2 weeks, we learned how to get by. He was changed on a towel on storage bin. We borrowed a bassinet. My mom had a ton of clothes. The hospital gave us a ton of preemie bottles & diapers. The most important thing you need to know is who is buying your car seat. We were lucky because my SIL showed up with it the day we had the baby.
To be on the safe side, I'd say to shoot for 30-32 weeks for the shower & once you're in your second trimester to start planning.

Not having the stuff was a walk in the park compared to waiting for him to get out. He's 7 now & I can still remember feeling a huge weight lifting off my shoulders as we walked out of the hospital. Best day.

I am planning it with one of my friends. My mom lives out of state so will help but can't really do a lot of planning. She may have a separate shower for me there too though.

My SIL is planning it. I helped with location and guest list and few other details.
My parents live in Las Vegas so it would be difficult for my mom to plan it.
I am due 4/16 and the shower is 3/15. Cutting it close but I think it will be okay.

wow!! a friend of mine had her son 6 weeks early and also missed her shower, but the timing worked out better for her- she gave birth only 2 days before her shower! her hubby went and opened all the gifts, so that was nice that guests at least had someone to open everything up in front of them. but at least she had all the stuff at home when bringing home baby (although there wasn't any time to set it up!).

Probably a friend or my SIL or me. I would love it to be my mom, but I am Jewish and she is against them before the baby is born, but I really want one. I just think it will be fun to see everybody.

My DH and I (My mom passed away a few yrs ago) we are having it next weekend I will be 34 weeks ...we started planing probably around 21 weeks, first choosing a place and then invites

My Mom and sister - and me b/c I begged them NOT to 'surprise' me -
It's a help to my Mom. My sister is in lala land ....and my Mom isn't very computer savvy so I save her a lot of $$$ by helping her find/buy things online like the invitations and such -

My sister, with the help of a friend. I gave her the guest list, however, since I wanted to make sure everyone who should have been included, was.
I was 32 weeks at my shower and it was on a Sunday because that my sister works Saturdays. I think 30 weeks and on a Saturday would have been ideal, because I was already getting really tired at 32 weeks and Saturday would have given me an extra day to rest before going back to work.
