Who was put "in charge" of buying things for their mothers by their siblings?

I have 2 brothers and some how every holiday it becomes my job to get things for my mother and then split the bills 3 ways! I am the oldest and only girl BUT I am getting tired of this. I was at the mall with DH tonight, I call my one brother who says he didn't get anything for my mother because he was waiting for me to do it!Chat Icon

ETA...I love getting things for my mom but I wish they would help out a little bit

I only have one brother so if we do joint gifts, I usually come up with it. But I know my Mom much better than my brother and as a woman, I know much more about what she'd like as well. I think it's par for the course as a sister of brothers. As far as your brother assuming you were doing it, maybe you should do individual gifts next time. That way he can appreciate your efforts a little more if he has to put some brainpower or legwork into it.

Dh says I should give her what I bought her and not put his name on it...I couldn't do that though

I have two sisters, one lives in Italy but even when she was here she didn't help out much except to pay up - me and my other sister switch off between buying the gifts - but we always brain storm together.

My sister and I (I'm younger) used to spilt all gifts for our parents. Which was nice because we would hav emore of a budget and could get more.

But once she had kids we stopped since she needed to get gifts from her kids.

On DH's side he is the middle, has an older sister and a very younger (DH is 25 BIL is 18) brother. We used to go in on the gifts as well. But, I stopped partaking because it was always MY (not DH, SIL, or BIL..ME) to get the gift. And no one would ever pay us back. So that's that.

I know how aggravating it can be to be responsible for the gifts!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I used to be in charge most of the time but since my brother got married, my SIL does it too. My brothers are sometimes involved but not often.

I am always in charge as well - what irks me even more is that I split the bill and I NEVER see the $$$ so i end up buying something three times as expensive and signing all their names and paying for it myself AND they are not kids Chat Icon
