Re: WHOA!!! Just got price from Leonetti Bros!

what are you moving? We used them when we moved from apt to house and had a stop in the middle for a storage unit (10*10) pickup ---- and it was less than that

They would be moving furniture from an apt to a house. They said they were charging us $165 per either driver or hour...I honestly think my mind went blank when DH dropped the estimate.Chat Icon

We used a company called North Star (i think). They were cheap and their minimum was 4 hours. They moved us from our apartment to our house in like 2 hours.

Hey Lori I think one of the reasons is the travel time and mileage. I still think it's high though.

Can you rent a U-Haul, call up some friends and family and have them help you out?

In any of the times we've moved we've always done it ourselves (in the 5 yrs we've been together it's been quite a few) - with help from family and friends, etc., but this time we just wanted our furniture moved....we're done lifting furniture up and down in and out...Chat Icon Chat Icon

I hear you. We are moving some furniture but there is also new furniture being delivered. So a U-Haul makes more sense for us. Did you try craigslist.com? They have movers listed on there.

WOW that is high! Any friends/family you could call on and rent a U-Haul or Budget Van/truck? We did that and it costed just about $100 and we had the truck for 8 hours.

Wow that is a lot. Try the pennysaver. When my friend moved last year she found a company there and they were really cheap. Good luck.

Re: WHOA!!! Just got price from Leonetti Bros!

I am so surprised - they moved me from NJ to Manhasset - a one bedroom apartment with a decent amount of funiture - 3rd floor walk up, and it was only around $900. They charged me $144 an hour plus a gas surcharge of $40. the whole move took about 6 including the time it took for them to get to me in NJ..... Something seems wrong with the quote that they gave you.
