Who's at fault? Dog park/children related
We go to the dog park today and we go into the one for smaller dogs under 25lbs. (Murray is 25lbs)
This man, woman and 2yr old come in with their puppy. (Murray has a jumping problem, esp with kids) it drives me crazy and I do everything in my power to keep him from doing this. The park is a sheet of ice so you cant get anywhere quick enough.
The woman puts her kids down, Murray jumps on her to lick her face and knocks her down. She cries. I start apologizing and explain my dog has a jumping problem. She puts the kid down again (!!) , Murray jumps on her , so the dad tries to prevent Murray from jumping and is trying to encourage his daughter to pet my dog. The kid starts crying again. The woman rips the kids from her husband and leaves in a huff.
I know my dog shouldnt be jumping but you are at a dog park!

Re: Who's at fault? Dog park/children related
There should be rules posted. Every dog park that I've been to says something about children under a certain age should be supervised, or aren't allowed. I NEVER put Jackson down when we go to the dog park. Most of the time I don't even go in with him. I let DH go in and Jackson and I watch Bama play from outside of the fence. Totally stupid of those parents to do what they did with their child around a bunch of strange dogs!!!

that kid should NOT have been at the dog park , period...the parents sound like idiots imo
I would not bring my child into a dog park, alot of dogs jump or are aggressive towards children

I do the same when we bring sandy, either I stay outside of the fence with dd and dh goes in with sandy or vice versa

Sorry but don't bring a 2 year old into a dog park. That's MO. Don't feel bad. 2 year olds don't belong there. Dogs do get rowdy there.

Re: Who's at fault? Dog park/children related
that whole incident was stupid! the park is for DOGS.... little kids and dogs don't always mix well, and no owner has complete control of a dog in such an exciting environment like a dog park...
the mother had to learn this the hard way, unfortunately.....

Re: Who's at fault? Dog park/children related
You have to be a complete moron to let your toddler walk around in a DOG park. You have no idea the temperment of each and every dog at the dog park, and even if you DID, dogs are inherently unpredictable. That was in no way your fault - the purpose of bringing your dog to a dog park is to let them be free, run, jump, etc. IMO, you should have never apologized in the first place and instead should have suggested that they remove the children from the dog park!

Rudy is a big time jumper. We even had a trainer but he just gets excited. Any time any one comes near him i say he is friednly and a jumper.
You warned her that he is a jumper.. she should have took the child out of thier after the first time the dog jumped.

Re: Who's at fault? Dog park/children related
I agree with the other posters....you don't bring children in to a dog park. The dogs are running around, biting and playing with each other and you have no idea what they will do with a child. What if a dog had run into the kid running full barrel? I've been bowled over by that, imagine a little kid?

Re: Who's at fault? Dog park/children related
sounds like she was more mad at the husband than the dog.. He was trying to get her to pet dog while she was crying and mom probable got mad at that.. Defiantly NOT your fault, its a DOG PARK!!

Re: Who's at fault? Dog park/children related
I do think you should consider training but it's definitely not your fault. If you brought Murray to a daycare & she jumped on a kid, I would say you were at fault.
Parents are at fault IMO. You warned them about the dog & they put her down again.
