Who's got a true phobia of going to the dentist?
My teeth look good when I smile so I put off going, but now I need a lot of work done because they really aren't healthy - especially way in the back there.
The only reason I even went this week was because I had a serious toothache (which ended up being an infection). I could have avoided all this if I just went and did "preventive maintainance".
I swear I'd rather give birth again than have a dentist put his hands in my mouth!

Me, I take my "mellow" pill before I go, I have actually thrown up on a dentist, because he thought I was "overreacting a tad to much". I HATE the dentist but only go if I have a ride so I dont have to drive on my "mellow" pill.

i dont go..i havent gone in so long, its embarrassing
i just have a terrible fear
now w/sedation dentistry, i might try it.

I have a terrible fear of anything medical, I'm truly embarrased to say how long it's been since I've seen a dentist

I was the ABSOLUTE worst!! I hadn't been to a dentist in about 15 years! Then I had pain so bad and I thought my teeth were getting loose,  so I bit the bullet and went. Thank God I did because it turned out I had periodontitis (gum disease) and if I hadn't gone, chances are my teeth would have fallen out eventually! I tell you...my teeth LOOK great- all straight, never had braces, only have 3 cavities in my whole mouth, all very white...this is a problem that really can't be "seen".
And it turned out my dentist was AWESOME!!! So gentle, explained everything to me, stops so I can rest my jaw (I have TMJ)...she is really great.

Me! I take a Xanax before I go and my dentist is very sensitive to fearful patients. She lets me listen to music so I dont have to hear the drill.

I was fine until 17 when I got my first cavity. I got sweet air and felt every friggin minute of it. Now, I panic. I'm fine getting shots, have a tatoo, have given blood on numerous occasions...go figure.

I finally found a great dentist who put me totally at ease but it took a while!
